Default need rear end advise

I am technically not doing an LS swap. I am putting an LM7 into my 2001 Sonoma. I am finding it very difficult to find an 8.5 10 bolt, but have heard lots about putting an 8.8 from a ford exploder. If I do go with the 8.8 do i have to cut down the length? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

You don't have to. There is tons of info on this with a quick Google search. The ford rear is a bit wider but nothing wheel offset can't account for. Some small modifications have to be made. Well worth it in my opinion. They are quite strong and very plentiful and affordable.

Here is one that I found with a google search.

Some of those trucks came with an 8.5. Find one and swap it in.
