Default Rear diff making popping noise

When I bought my 2000 camaro ss the guy said he put a 12 bolt Moser rear end in it himself. I don't know much bou rear ends. When I pull out of the parking spot in first and in a turn it pops a few times.when I'm driving straight or even getting on it I don't hear any popping sounds. I'm just wondering when and if he put the 12 bolt on the car he didn't shim it right and gears are not meshing right. I don't know where to start or what to look for. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is it a posi/locker/ETC ?

Sounds like it is and the unit has the wrong oil or additive.

Also, have you checked the U-joints ?

Idk if it's posi track but I don't think it is. When I first bought it he said he just filled it with oil. I noticed that it was leaking from the main seal by the driveshaft. I put it in the shop and had my mechanic replace the seal and look it over real good while it's on the lift. He said the seal was good and the the po put too much oil in it and that's why it was leaking. So he removed the excess oil and it hasn't leaked sense. I haven't checked the ujoints. I'll do that.

Add a couple bottles of limited slip additive from the dealer.

Go to your local dealer....... add 2 bottles....go to a parking lot and do some low speed figure 8's to mix/work it in....done.

If its a detroit locker it will make some noise, you wont need limited slip additive for that if it is

Not sure. He just told me it was a Moser 12 bolt. I think he'd of said something if it was. But can't say for sure. Guess I need to look in there to make sure what it is. I can always try the additive and see if that helps or not.

No charge because the seal was good just too much oil in it. He didn't look in it because it wasn't popping back then. I just had him fix the oil leak.

Just got a chance to add the slip additive to my rear end but when I got under there I can't get to the Allen head screw to put the additive because there's a brace in the way that runs diagonally across the rear end. Do I need to remove that to get to the filler screw?
