8.8 Build / Install I realize this is old news and has been done thousands of times with plenty of write ups on here but I wanted to share my experience; will be updating with part numbers,cost and such for anybody curious .. so let's begin .
I purchased a used 8.8 on one of the FB groups which had been done by Robert Maddox already set up for a fbody with Hiltsy mount and using fbody 10 bolt tubes. It had a
31 spine open carrier with a welded Yukon mini spool, Yukon 3.55 gears, and Moser 31 spline axles.
Paid $800 bucks and drove to Kentucky to pick it up -

and the welded mini spool..which for obvious reasons will be getting changed out
ordered a bunch of parts and will be updating soon!

Picked up my rearend from Morgan Performance in Greensburg,IN
new bearings and seals
unfortunately the Moser axles had to be cut to remove the c clips bc of the welded mini spool
I guess my next purchase will be for some Dutchman axles to get this together and put in the car

Few parts came in : OEM replacement c clips and the Spohn sway bar installation kit to clear the GT500 diff cover with OEM bar

Installed axles with new c clips

I most people just use rtv on 8.8s , I did a layer of rtv.gasket.rtv ... I cant stand leaks
all done ,should have installed in the next week or two

8.8 and SJM abs delete is all done and installed.
I have put about 50 miles on the car and everything feels so much smoother than the 10 bolt ,along with no gear wine.
Will be hitting the track in a couple months for some abuse.

Update Have put around 400-500 miles and numerous launches and the 8.8 just takes it like a champ! Putting down 1.6 60ft times with a bolt on only car and driving home is nice !
Also forgot to post a pic of the sway bar brackets installed .

A little update, I haven't touched a thing with the 8.8 since install.. have been 1.5xx 60fts since with stock sway bar still . I do plan to install a arb at some point
Cool deal! I had most of the stuff ready to go for one of these and then decided on the MWC... 6 speed car! I wanted strength in the lightest possible housing so I went for the gusto. Anyone looking to do one of these I have the correct 8.8 housing already cut down and I have my LT 10 Bolt still laying around that I could cut axle tubes off of for someone that doesn't want to completely disable their car to build a rearend. Also have two sets of gears for an 8.8 3.73 original Ford but used and brand new Motive 3.90. anybody interested just lmk, this stuff is in my way and the most expensive of those things I have for sale are the 3.90 gears and I have those marked down pretty good as well. I think overall the shipping might be the hardest part unless I could get a friend of mine that runs a retail businesses to ship UPS for me. He has awesome rates. Holler y'all! It's Christmas and somebody wants to build an 8.8! I got the stuff y'all!!
