Default Gear pattern Help

Here is the gear pattern I have. Swapping a torsen unit with 3.42's in place of the open/2.93 OEM setup. I reused the oem pinion shim and backlash is .007. Opinions? I held the pinion and spun the carrier with a wrench for the patterns. (This is also the first rear I have ever done this work to)

I ran another spot opposite the first one. Again holding the pinion and turning the carrier with a wrench.

Also I'm not sure how much this matters but this is an OEM GM gearset.

What car, not that it matters ?
The top pic in each set is the drive side pattern and looks pretty good, the coast side doesn't look the best. BUT looking at the 'carry-over' marking compound on the teeth that weren't coated, those patterns look large and centered. The marking compound on the teeth that it was applied to I never use to evaluate, I always look at the pattern of the 'carry-over' compound on the teeth that were left bare.
Pattern should be checked by rotating the pinion and applying some resistance to the ring gear / carrier for evaluating 'drive pattern'.

It's a 7.625" 10 bolt in a 96' Caprice. I wanted slightly better gears and a posi rear. LS1tech always has some of the best info so I wanted to reach out here. (plus all the f-bodies use 10 bolts) What would you do if this was your rear end? It's not a race car but I also don't want the rear to grenade on me. Thanks for the reply!

Check the pattern by turning the pinion(as it would be when driven) and if no change in pattern, go with it.

I just went out and put new compound on and spun it on a clean spot on the ring gear. I tried to show the actual marked spot as well as the compound being left on the clean teeth that you mentioned.

2nd pic enables a view of both drive and coast, and both are centered and wide.

Thanks for the guidance. I will post a reply once I get the car back on the ground and out into the road.

You should always check the pattern by turning the ring gear not the pinion. Turning the pinion will give you an odd pattern most of the time.
