strange dana 60 fcars?
I see in national dragster strange is making a new center for dana 60,does anyone know if they plan on producing these for 4th generation f bodys?
This might be the solution for us m6 guys who keep wounding 12bolts.I think there are some heavy duty diffs available for it also.

Not as heavy as the 7 ring and pionions in 8 thousand miles have been on my wallet.Ford 9" aren't no flyweights either but I would use one if I could keep my abs.It would be nice to have a locker and abs with that dana if it was possible, probably no more than 20 lbs heavier than this pos moser.

i dont think strange would do this. the dana 60 is a strong axle but it is way heavier then a 9" and the parts are also alot more expensive. acually, i think the ring gear diamater is 9.25" but i might be wrong. i have built a few my self but for 4X4s trucks and one mopar axle. there is just too much HP that will be lost pulling all the internals but yes, they are stronger then 9"s. this is an axle that will most likely stay with the mopar guys in my opinion.

I checkd out the dana awhile back while surfin the strange website. Cant imagine that thing ever breaking. Looks like it could withstand the proverbial nuclear blast at ground zero. Nothing would be left but the 60. lol

I have a Dana 60 in my Jeep, and there's no way I'd put that in my F-body! It's a 9.75" ring gear, with a gigantic nodular-iron pumpkin. I mean, it's huge, and I agree with dug about it's durability! However. The sucker probably weighs in around 300 pounds! The other issue is ground clearance. With 33" tires, I only have about 7½" of ground clearance under the diff (unless you shave the housing, the D60 pumpkin hangs down almost as much as a 14-bolt). Under an F-body, you'd only have about four inches. I don't know about you, but I sure wouldn't feel comfortable with that.
Parasitic losses are also high. I the end, I just don't see a D60 as suitable for an F-body. But that's just my opinion, and I think we all know what those are like...

That second article is very interesting, and very telling. To say the least, I'm really surprised that a D60 is only 50# heavier than the Chrysler 8-3/4". It would be interesting to see a chart comparing the weight and power holding capability of popular axles and their relative strengths/weaknesses.

strange is doing this......called the S60. for the fbody. gives ya 3rd option to the rear end selection out there. IMHO though its not like people are ripping there 12 bolts to shreads.... so whats the point of the expense?!?!
