Thanks for your patience much appreciated.
I got home early and snapped these pictures. There are no lines or gouges, it’s pretty smooth. The dark line you see is just discoloration. It looks to be right where the bearing and the seal meet.

Assuming the axle rods looked good I finished putting it all back together. As you said it was pretty easy but without your answers it would have been harder. Like I could have easily broken the sensors if you had not said they were sensitive. Thank you!

It friggin snowed last night all the roads go salted so I can’t test if the noise went away for at least a couple of days.

just checking on something you had written earlier wager pull/push movement of axle has nothing to do with the bearing. Does that mean there should not be any movement? Before I changed the bearing, with the car jacked up I could push/pull a tiny, tiny little bit. I haven’t tried it since I put the tires back in

In the areas between the axle ends against the paddle and the c-clips in the c-clip grooves there has to be some sort of clearance to prevent constant touching/rubbing. So yes a tiny tiny little bit.

Sure, post em up.

Brake bleed screw wrenches are ideal. they're typically long and 6-point. they come in 5/16/3/8 and 8mm/10mm.

First, I've never seen axles that seemed to have been painted black on the shafts. No reason for any kind of coating as they're bathed in gear lube. Are those the cars original axles ?

Well being that GM OEM replacements are no longer available, all replacements are of unknown fit & quality.
A recent thread had Dorman (from India) and it caused problems.

Looking up other USA standard gear axles UPCs, they come from Myanmar (Burma).

I think I’m going to go with the USA Standard ones. Also contemplating doing new studs also. I’ve never done a stud install though.

Got an impact wrench ?, as it's best to pull them thru instead of pressing them thru.
If you got a way to hold the axle, a hand open end/box wrench also works.
