Whining in the rear end
if the "waves" of the sound are more spaced out that usually indicates a bad bearing.
i would imagine that since its doing it on both acceleration and deceleration it would have something to do with the way the gears are set up. if its not very loud then i wouldn't worry about it.
my gears whine under decel, and i'm under the impression that it is caused for an incorrect pinion depth.
someone please chime in if you have anything else to add!

Sounds like carrier bearings to me. When they replaced gears they set preload to high on bearing and burned them up most likley. I is possible a pinion bearing but my nickle is on the carrier bearings.
