Default 9" misalignment?

Anyone have probs when installing a different rear end that all of a sudden things don't line up. My 9" doesn't seem to want to go in right. I measured from the back of the door seam to the center of the axle and it's .5" off from one side to the other. And it shows when i put the tires on and it rubs on one side but not the other? How can this happen if i never adjusted the LCA's? Also, the spring perches on the rear end seem to be further back then they should normally be. So when the coil springs are there, they are at an angle. Don't know what would cause such a thing? Any thoughts?

This is quite common with lowering or changing rear ends. What kind of rear end is it? Do you have a adjustable pan hard bar?

have adjustable PHR, have adjustable LCA's, moser 9" with relocation brackets for the LCA's so maybe the brackets are welded on a little off-line? any other thoughts. it's centered from side to side, but in term of placing the wheel in the wheelwell, that's what is off .5" from one side to the other.

My 9" is was more like an inch off side to side. With 28" tall tires (that fit fine with the stock 10 bolt) after I put the moser in one side tire was hitting the front of the wheelwell and the other side was hitting the rear. I had to buy adjustable LCAs to fix it..

mine is about .5 inch off too i'd say. my 28" tires clear alot on the drivers side adn BARELY on the passenger side. I just run reg lca's though and haven't gotten adjustables since nothing is actually hitting and the car seems to sixty foot well.

I brought mine to an alignment shop and had the thrust angle checked/fixed, it was definately off. Why waste any power with sideways rear end Plus I wanted to make sure it was the rear that was off, not the wheelwells.

Check your brackets -- could be welded on wrong. However mine was off a bit as well using no relo-brackets.

could this cause bad wheelhop? Ever since I put my 12 bolt in I've had bad wheelhop. I have bmr lca's, bmr phr and a eldebrock torque arm. What else could be causing my wheelhop? Shocks maybe? The car has 83,000 miles on it now.

I have found that really bad wheelhop is caused by shitty tires. What kind of tires do you have?

Well I have bfg drags on my 16's, had michelin pilot sports on the 18's I sold and now I have nitto drags on some 17's. It doesn't seem to be as bad on the smaller wheels but its still bad.

9" are much heavier than your 10 bolt and your shocks can not control it properly hense the wheel hop.

Pressure on the 18's was about 30-32 pounds. I'm running drag radials on both the 17's and the 16's now so they stay between 25-30 pounds.

I have bmr tubular LCA's. I really think its in the shocks since the car has 80,000 miles on it. I'm gonna get the relocation brackets in a couple weeks and have them and my SFC's put on at the same time.
