Digging up the ol' thread again...
Can anyone tell me the rationale of NOT using synthetic. I always thought synthetics would have better cooling capabilities.

And can someone clarify exactly what the purpose of the additive and what it does. It is my understanding that all it is is a friction modifier designed to encourage the clutches to slip and therfore make the transition around corners and parking lots bind free (more like an open differential). If that is all it does, then I would not see a need for most of us on this board to use it. It obviously has nothing to do with lubrication qualities or GM would require it in all rear axles, not just those equipped with limited slip differentials.

http://www.xcellube.com/products/atf_gear/gl5.htm .This is what I used & I added two bottles of gm limited slip additive.
Synthetic is to slick for the carrier & it could cause the seals to leak this is what Strange told me .

Funny thing is, a shop I went to last week said the exact same thing you did.

i don't have any limited slip additive right now, is it ok to drive the car a couple of miles before i put any additive in it?
