Default URGENT!!Emergency Brake messed up ...

I took my car into the exhaust shop today to have them weld my Bolt on lower control arm relocation brackets. I have had the Relocation brackets on for a year now with no problems and just wanted them welded on there. AFter all said and done and htye put a weld bead on eash side it was finished. I pull of the lift and notice that it felt like my rear brakes were grabbing but kept giving it gas and it came of nicely I figured it was the suspension being tighter now. I get back to my place and go to pull the emergency brake and it wont lift up. Its like its jammed. So I pull off the whole console and everything and kept dissecting the ebrake and it only goes so far than it locks. SO I leave the ebrake down. I put the ca rin reverse and start it up and let the clutch out slowly and it stops , the brakes in the rear are grabbing, the ebrakes are stuck. So I am now pissed off as can be dirve abck to the exhaust shop get there 3 minutes before they close they put it back on the lift and look all around and say its in the drum and that"they do that" sometimes the pads get stuck onto the drums.. WHat do I do? DO I pull the wheels and rotors of myself and try to get the pads from being stuck onto the drum? Need help bad, big drag race event this weekend at local track and would really like to run.

I bet it has something to do with the fact that they had to remove the little e-brake cable brackets from their original location and re-weld them to the new LCA brackets. That's a good place to start.

EDIT: Maybe I'm wrong after re-reading your post. Mine were weld in only.

No they didnt touch the cables I was there the whole time. These had already been on there a year and I wanted it welded on the side of the bracket to the rear end. The brake cables dont seem to be touched. Thanks for the thought though.

Personally, I would pull the wheels off myself, and see if you can see what is binding up. I can't think how the control arms have anything to do with the ebrake. If you've never messed with it before, inside the rotor there is a surface that looks like a standard brake drum and the shoes press out against it. if there is pressure on these, you probably won't be able to get the rotor off. Only way I can see that binding up in the way you describe is the cable is pulled tight.

It is the cable pulled tight. I cant get the cable loose. I tried hammering on the lever on the brakes where the cable is connected to and it wouldnt budge. The lever in the car is all the way down and cant be pulled up but the cables for the break is pulled all the way up underneath the car, there are no visible signs of anything being melted on the brake cable or the covering . Im clueless. I Cant drive my car anywhere because it will kill my rear brakes/rotors.

You could always cut the cables until you figure out where the malfunction is

Its almost like someone pulled up too hard on the brake handle, then pushed the handle back down. Since it's so easy to pull up on the handle on these cars because of the design, I can see that. I haven't ever taken the console apart on mine by the brake so I have a hard time picturing what that looks like.

There must be some way to release the cable from inside the car. Do you have a factory manual to look at?
