Default going to be getting a 12 bolt

will be looking into getting a 12 bolt rear as soon as i can (prob not till summer) but i wanted to start comaparing them. wanted to know what i would be better off with considering my current set up in sig. and where would be a good place to get it from. as of now i am looking at a strange but dont know what would be a good set up of internals?? 33 spline? etc. any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

I have a Strange. 33 spline I think is standard with a heavy duty posi. Mine wasn't, I optioned for it.

No regrets getting the Strange over Moser BTW...

I've also heard Strange has less problems versus the Moser 12-bolts. I'll be going with a Strange very soon. Scrude is right, now the heavy duty posi, and 33 spline axles are standard on these rears.

I would just pay the few more bucks and get the 9". Youll save alot in shipping. Id rather pay more for a better rear then more for shipping

Better is a relative term. A 12 bolt is lighter, easier to bolt in, doesn't look like a 4x4 when installed, and can be run nearly into the 8s if done properly with a spool(whick I highly recommend for serious drag use). Also, how can a heavier rear be cheaper to ship than a 12 bolt?

A4= 12 bolt
M6 = 9"

IMHO

They can ship the 9" in multiple containers...the center sections on those are removable.

Gotcha. It's still a heavier rear.

i twisted one 30 spline and snaped another on a 12 bolt. broke two posi's. friend of mine has twist's in his 33 spline. get a 9inch with a spool if you are 6 speed and going to be putting a slick on it.

Kemosabe speak truth.

And when you're done putting in the 9 inch, let BLUEBALLS take it for a spin. If it comes back unbroken, you have passed the test and your 9 inch will outlive YOU!

Hi Dave!

And what your saying is relative and very opinionated.

I actually have weighed my freinds 12 bolt.
It was 191 lbs shipped.
My 9" was 199 lbs shipped

I guess 8lbs is alot

But in all seriousness...why not get the extra strength?

Heres a 12 bolt with 450 rwhp and a SPOOL that broke
