detroit trutrac feedback wanted
Has any used the dertoit trutrac differential in a 12bolt or 9" .I'd relly like to know how these work and if they are tough enough for a m6 application. This
is the diffy that is similar to a torsen but with an extra pinion for increased
torque capacity.

I just sat my car on the ground this evening with a truetrac in my 12 bolt. It looks to be really stout compared to torsen. The worm gears are quite a bit larger. I gotta get the DS shortened tomorrow and i'll start breaking the rear in. I'll let you know when i get to driving it. The people at Moser said it should be stronger than the Eaton.

If this thing can handle the shock load of a m6 it should be the ideal street strip differential, and allow synthetic rear end lube to boot for extended ring and pinion life.
It should have none of the locker issues,or clutch pack/spyder gear problems of the eaton. To say nothing of seamless torque split and queitness of opperation. Now if they would release the 4series carrier for 33 spline we would be all set.

What are the chances of a posi holding up in a 9" though? I dont even put slicks on my car or dump at high rpms and I am putting a spool in because I dont feel like having to rebuild the friggin things.

where did you order the 12 bolt and True-trac from? did you get it as a package, set together?
What other specs of your 12 bolt? anything that you have to keep in mind when you get the true-trac in it?
I'm starting to contemplate getting a strange 12 bolt with 3.73's and true-trac diff... to bulletproof my drivetrain for street driving, and some autox and open track days.. (preparing for future hp upgrades)

I finally got to drive and race the car this weekend. The truetrac is nice, really quiet on turns and doesnt feel any different than the torsen did in my stock rear. The 12 bolt is definately noisier than the 10 bolt but its not un-bearable. I bought my housing used and bought all the insides straight from Moser. (33-spline, truetrac, 4.10's) They said the truetrac would be stronger than the Eaton so I bought it instead. Its so nice going to the track and not worrying about the rear end!

I've got a Truetrac in my Cutlass. It's a 8.5 rear, but as far as how it does, great is my opinion. The car is my daily driver, and under normal conditions you never know the diff is there until you need it. I drag the car on the weekends (3.73 gear with an M6 trans) and I beat the hell out of it. (5000rpm clutch dumps on 275/50/16 M/T drag radials dead hooking) It's been together nearly a year now with zero problems. I'll be buying another one soon for my S-15.

I have had mine for 60,000 miles and hardly any sign of wear,no whine, and no sign of problems-had it looked at 3,000 miles ago---stock rear,3:73's--great stuff--A place here called 'REAR ENDS ONLY" LTD.,name speaks for itself, his dad started the company over 30 years ago and was a racer,he's also a racer[Drag and Oval],say's in his business he's never seen unit's that take abuse like 'DETROIT PRODUCTS' do!!!!! ...

I guess they do. Part # is TT 911A415. Looks like about $300. Probably should just save for the 12 bolt.....
