About 150rwhp The stock rear just sucks, some people get away with 400+hp and some people break it with no mods.

considering you wont be racing the car any it should last longer, but if its a daily driver that sees lots of highway stop and go traffic, i would probably throw a trans cooler on there even with the stock stall. I had a cooler on mine before I put a converter in. Maybe it sounds crazy to some, but I would take every precaution needed to save the parts on your car. Same thing with the rear end, not really anything needed there if you dont plan on racing it at all.

Almost makes me fear getting drag radial street tires.

I agree. I had a trans cooler on when I was bone stock. I got a 19k at the time but should of got a 24, never got around to changing it after I got my converter.

w/ street tires their fine.. till you launch on the trans brake w/ dr's at 5600rpm - I have 7500mi w/ 8 1/2 # of boost on an m6. I just feather it back if it starts hoppin. Ill let you know when it blows; I’m adding a torque arm line loc and some 315 dr's soon.

You can break one with stock power, and keep one in great shape with 800rwhp, its all about how nice you are to it.

Mine has survived some 5000 rpm clutch dumps on E/T Drag slicks but that's only because the clutch hasn't survived as well. The stock clutch has allowed enough slippage to keep me from breaking anything.

I cringe leaving the water box. You can hear the posi fighting as one tire will try to hook before the other ect. Its not a good sound...

I put about 100k miles on my bird with many many 1.60 60ft launches at about 3800-4200 rpm and my rear hasn't had one problem.

Of course, its different for everyone. I just got lucky.

with a A4 racing from a roll I would be more concerned about my transmission. when you punc it at about 25 and it drops to first you are on borrowed time especially when you start to mod it. just my $.02

Some rear ends are made on Monday morning and other's where made on Friday afternoon, you are rolling the dice on what you have. I have my stock rear still and have plenty of pass's on DR's and ET streets and i am deep into the 11's.. I wont replace mine till it breaks but i know i has to be getting closer.. A4's are deffinatey more forgiving.. I think you wil be fine..

I broke mine within 25k miles on the clock on my previous 99 TA.

Mods were...

K&N
Cut-Out
Drag Radials

When I get my next F-body I am going to make sure to get a rear cover. It's only $150 too, I would probably have saved over $3k if I had one of these.

2002 Z28 A4 here. What should be a good safe rear end HP limit be for street tires and no drag racing, etc?
well i saw a guy put down over 600rwhp with a stock 10bolt....

like everyone said.... its not the HP you have, its how you drive the car.....

if your very hard on it.... stock-325rwhp could do it....
a little hard.................. 325-375rwhp may do it....
medium....................... 375-400rwhp
easy.......................... 400-and up rwhp.
