The way I understand it is that the solid pinion spacer takes the place of a crush sleeve which compresses under heavy load and lets the pinion get sloppy. As far as the universal is concerned get the solid one not the one with grease fittings.

Ummm ok does anyone have a link to any of these so I can see or read up on them?

Does a 1350 Yoke require that I swap my driveshaft?

Thanks everyone for the help so far!!

I have stock length Moser 9", with 3.50 gear and Tractech soft locker. Never makes any noise. I run 85/140? fluid.

When the locker engages/and disengages is very noticeable. Car will have the 'twitch'. Works great at the track. I went 3 9.6 passes yesterday.

Wow... 9.6 is Crazy fast.

I have an offer from a guy that builds 9" 3rd Members from "1 Race" gear sets for NASCAR bubbas.. what do you guys think? Can you trust a gearset like that?

Oh and I dropped off my car yesterday and got to look through all the parts that I have spent all my hard earned money on... hehe Like a kid in a candy store... now I gotta get my rearend together so I can put this HP to the ground when it comes back to me I will be quite happy if I can get into the high 10's

Hey PSJ I thought you had the Detroit soft locker and not the Detroit Tractech. If that's not the case, then I think my mind is going because you are the reason I decided on the soft locker from Jay Billingsley.

I'm buying a moser 9" /w the Strange Center Section, 4 channel, and Trach-Tech Locker, Moser 31/35 Spline Axles, from Billingsley very soon. I have an A4, and my car's a daily driver. Should I go with the Detroit Trach Tech, Tru Trac, or soft locker? Also, where should I go to get a 3.5" Alum driveshaft for my setup? Please submit any advise on what to buy, and options I should ask for. Thanks...

I'm in the same boat. Looking for a replacement now. I think you will want a tru-trac for a DD. A locker is pretty seviere for your needs I beleave. 31 spline should be fine.
But then again I'm a rookie at this also!

You know it really pisses me off that you have these non-sponsors sneaking around on this site trying to drum up business, when there are legitimate sponsors that pay their money every month so that we have a forum that we can discuss things. If not for the sponsors, none of these sites would be available to us. Scott is really doing a disservice to everyone who enjoys this forum.

I have a 31 spline Tractech soft locker.

I'm thinking of going to a spool in my effort to run low 9's.

I don't want to start anything here, but vendors that do not assemble their own axles and just dropship everything is getting old. I take pride in every axle I build myself, by my own hands. I will, sometime soon, be a sponsor here I just need to get a few things ready to do so. This site is very busy for everyone to have a piece of the pie. Sorry you feel that way. S.K.

Moser is saying that I am on the edge now. They'd rather see me have a spool now.

I'm tempted to try to finish out the season with what I have and then pull it and sell it after checking the axles.

There is an old saying " you wanna play, you gotta pay". Jay Billingsley has custom fabricated housings, by the way. If and when you become a sponsor I doubt if you'll care for nonsponsors on your turf.

31 spline axles are good for QUITE a while... I've seen many 8 second cars still running strong on 31's. (Big Rick ran an 8.0 on 31 spline axles).

PSJ, if you do decide to put a spool in your car, I have a 31 spline spool that I put in my car and drove about 1000 miles on, and no trips to the track. I'll sell it pretty cheap

Well if its any difference to any of the above.. I am buying my 9" from another forum user who is buing one shortened because they intend to Tub their ride... all I need to buy is a 3rd Member.

I think that one of the quality's of the board is that you can get everyones opinions about anything. I appreciate that... I do understand where your comming from bigdsz, but I also appreciate that there are people out there like Scott that are willing to help and they can deliver a quality product...

I think that Scott fully intends to become a sponsor and I understand that it is difficult to get on your feet when you are standing up a buisness.

I will say that of all the quotes I recived before shipping they were between 2400-3000 dollars for a 9" setup with ABS and exciter rings pressed on, Detroit locker and 3:50 gear ratio. Shipping can be another chunk on top of that....

PSJ, that is awsome... You make me feel alot better about the 31 spline. Your sig says Locker but you said Tractech soft locker... is there a significant difference between the Detroit locker and that? I have a friend local that builds 9" 3rd Members from "1 Race" gear sets for NASCAR bubbas.. what do you guys think? Can you trust a gearset like that? It was used for one race then pulled...

PSJ, Bigdsz, xaon, and EVERYONE else that has posted or IM'd me thank you so much for the education and the assistance!!!

ALL... this was my first string and my first post on this board.... all of you have been a great help and I am now a LS1TECH addict.. Thanks for maken it a successful one!!

If you call taking a "Moser" housing and putting it into a jig to weld on a swaybar custom fab so be it.
I have taken non Moser 9" housings and produced a true custom piece. It was for a 70 Buick Electra with a 9-3/8 axle that no one produces parts for. Qualtiy speaks for itself.

The housings I am talking about are very high tech, fabbed totally from the ground up. Check out Billingsley's website.
