Good luck getting yours first. I went 3.73's becuase my torque curve is pretty low with the cam I have now. Also, because I'm an A4 driver and first gear is so short. My DD makes ocassional 2-hour trips over to the coast, so, another reason not to go 4.10's . Don't think I didn't seriously consider it, though. I would LOVE to feel my car launching on 4.10 gears!!! WOW!

Good luck with your new rearend ... hope it arrives soon ans gives you lots of adrenalin rushes ...

Jeb, I have an M6, but you were right to get the 3.73s.

Let us know when your 12-bolt arrives.

I inspected my moser 12 bolt when it arrived, checked torques and gear set up pinion
drag ect.It checked fine ,installed without issues and fragged the ring and pinion on the third launch at 3500 rpm off the 2 step with bfg drag radials. It continued this behavior for 8 ring and pinions from 3 different installers until the last guy found a burr
under the front pinion bearing race that would allow it to set up ok but lose preload on
hard launches. This last set of 430 us gears has now been in for 4 thousand miles and is still quiet, what a relief. Now where did I put those slicks?

Will post up for sure ... just got word that Strange is back-ordered for posi units and it will now be mid-February before my 12-bolt arrives. I'm thinking about just going for a Moser 12-bolt and forget about Strange. IF it arrives mid-February, as NLP is being told, well, that would be over three months from the time it was ordered in mid-November. Anybody know if Moser might be having the same back-order problem?

z-ya: glad you finally got your rearend issue squared away. I can only imagine the frustration you've been through.

Since you're located in FLA, I can see how that would be a problem. Personally, I could live with a delivery date of April, but Billingsley has been closed this week, so I haven't had a chance to talk to them.

What's cool about Moser 12-bolts is that you can get a True-Trac. Bob, at EPP is always saying that he can ship his Mosers in a couple days, so I don't think Moser is having the backorder problem.

I just was at Moser this past Friday Dec 30th. Moser is not having any shortage problems, and your rear would indeed be shipped two days after it is ordered. Bob

... thanks. I have posed the question to the shop owner who does my work. Of course, I will ultimately go with his decision. I'm just afraid that I'll have problems with the new Strange 12-bolt and that it may take them another 3 months to replace it if it has to be replaced for some reason.

After 2 weeks of driving with my brand new FLP Race Level5 4L65E tranny, it broke. However, FLP was great with their customer support and immediately shipped a replacement, which I'm very happy with. I'm just afraid Strange will be out of parts if my new 12-bolt breaks. Anyone else have this problem with Strange OR Moser????

My moser works great no leaks, whines a little but not too loud. Numerous 6500 rpm sidesteps on a full slick and doesnt even flinch.

Interesting poll results. Considerably more people are installing Moser but both Moser and Strange have about the same 1/3 of their owners unstatisfied - not very good for well over $2k.

I am soooooo confused about what to do with my rear end. My car is lowered a couple of inches so it would be intersting fitting a 9", I want my ASR and ABS, but have heard such mixed results with the 12 bolts. My friend has a Moser12 w/ 3.73s and it whines like a bitch on the decel...but he has never reset them.

I'm gonna stop before I thread jack anymore

I bought a Moser 12 bolt for my Camaro October 2001. It's the 33 spline Posi 3 Series with 3.73 gears. My car is a bit of a hanger queen it's only got about 10,000 miles on it and 8,000 with the Moser. It's pretty quiet although I added 1 1/2 times the anti-slip lubricant and I use synthetic gear oil. I have not had any problems with the rear end, but it does cause some other problems. First and foremost get someone who knows what they are doing to install it if you can't do it yourself. I thought I was dealing with a reputable shop, but nope. Fortunately I have a lift in my garage so after about a month I put the car on it to check it out. The nuts on the U bolt connecting the yoke to the driveshaft were loose and the installation Klingons had bent up the brake lines that go over the differential. I replaced the U bolts (which were too big, you couldn't tighten the 9/16" nuts), with smaller ones with 3/8 nuts and fixed that problem. Fixed the brake lines. Cussed out the schmucks who did the work (now out of business, surprise and hooray!).

Next problem: Everything about the 12 bolt is bigger. The BMR torque arm which worked fine on the stock rear end now banged against the tunnel. It's offset as compared to stock and was hitting the side of the tunnel. So off it came and the stock TA back on.

More banging underneath. This time it's the rear sway bar hitting the rear casing of the diff. It sticks out back much further. Dinged up the rear case, had to replace. Off came the sway bar, now I drive without one.

Still more banging at right rear, haven't figured out where it's coming from.

Intermittent problems with ASR. Haven't fixed yet.

Bottom line if you are drag racing get one otherwise leave well enough alone.

Moser 12 bolt with 4.10's. HOWLED since day 1, replaced 1 axle seal and bearing, the cover bolts leak, and 2 pinion seals replaced. Numerous runs at the track and is a daily driver.....compared to my blown up 10 bolt...it's a keeper.

cobbster, Spohn makes a sway bar mounting kit for aftermarket rearends. It addresses the very problem you had, one of them, anyway.

Sounds exactly like mine. When I got it installed the shop told me that Moser sells 2 kinds of gears, an "aftermarket style" which is stronger but noisey and an "OEM style" which is as quiet as stock but flimsy as peanut brittle. The shop didnt ask me which one I wanted before they ordered it so Im screaming

WOW! Finally got it and it was installed yesterday. A little noisy, but, I expected that. I believe the noice (low whine) will go away after it's broken in. My last setup sounded the same and the noise completely went away after about 500 miles or so. If it still makes a little noise, when someone asks me, 'What's that noise coming from the back of the car/' ... well, I'll just say, '... must be that monster in the back.'

So far it feels really good ... will post up a little later to say if it's holding up well or not.
