I can assure you Moser doesn't sell any gears that are flimsy as peanut butter. Richmond gears are a good gear but are usually too noisey. Moser doesn't use them anymore unless a customer specifically request them. They are a $15.00 upgraded option. US Gear and Motive are the other two gearsets that Moser uses, and they are currently having problems getting the US Gears for the 12 bolts. Motive gears are generally regarded as being quiet and also tough enough to handle abuse. Bob

my first moser 12bolt was pretty quiet but the axle tube broke at the center section...my second moser with the same carrier new axles and gear set is the noisiest thing i've ever heard,it is set up correctly...mosers answer was "its normal..it is a performance axle" oh yea it leaks out of every seal and eats torque arms alive. I'm on #5 in a year...the only one thats held up is my spohn and i finally welded the bold to the arm.........should of just built a 10 bolt

Took the Strange out this morning and drove about 75 miles. The slight whine seems to be going away like my old 10-bolt posi/gear setup did when I did my second set of gears. So far it feels strong and firm .... hope it continues.

Does the tubes come fully welded to the center section?

Moser 12 bolt: 33 spline axles, eaton posi, 1350, richmond gears. The rear has not leaked or ever howled from the gears. It's been flawless for the past 2 years.

Spoke too soon ... leaking a drop of fluid in the driveway from the bottom of the girdle cover. Still love the rearend. Only time I hear it is when I decelerate at low speeds in OD.

Happy with the Moser 12 bolt so far. It became noisy after I went to the track, but I can handle that knowing that it's stronger.

It's very exciting to launch really high and know it won't break.

Another vote for Moser here!

Well kinda.I bought the case and axles and then slowly pieced it all together as I could afford and so I was able to build it to my liking.Heard too many nightmares like these here so I wanted to build it myself.Richmond 3.73's,Eaton HD Posi from Randy's Ring & Pinion,Ratech solid pinion spacer,ARP ring gear bolts,Timken bearings,Moser T/A aluminum cover,1350 yoke.Had very little whine at first 10 mile cruise, second and third 10 mile cruise got quieter and gradually went away and is now factory quiet.Very happy with my self built Moser. After 30 mile break in took it to the track on ET Drags with 1.68 short times and dumping at 5500rpm with my old 4 speed she is still quiet as a mouse.1500 miles and still holding.

How much did it end up costing you to do it this way? I did a lot of the LS1 this way myself.

The strange is still quiet and holding up. 12+ weeks to get it built and shipped, so, it better not break!

My moser works great but I just switched to a spool because I know if I don't switch to a spool I would blow the posi launching on spray.

strange 12 bolt here with all the trimmings with 4.33 gears and it is loud on the highway. The 12 bolt was in I8aford's car before mine. I don't have the ABS or ASR hooked up yet. It hooks and I can live with it. It's not my daily driver.

That is what most users report. Bob
