I was under the impression that the gear ratios available for the 12 bolts were 3.73 or 4.11.
I was just looking through a catalog and saw 3.90 gear & pinion set for 12 bolt car, made by richmond gear. I figured I would ask about it. Would these be a good compromise between the other 2?

You can get 4.10's, or 4.11's, Richmond is not the only thing you can choose... <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

 

ok, but what about the 3.90's ? I thought they were only available with the ford 9".

Nah, they are available in the 12-bolt too. (Just not by everyone.)

 

3.90 is a good choice for an A4 with a small cam where you don't want to go above 6200/6300 rpm.

I was going to get it, but decided on 3.73s for a little room on the spray if I went that way.

 

I ordered my 12bolt a few days ago and I planned on getting a 3.90 gear... until I realized that Moser doesn't offer it. I ended up with the 4.10.

 

Pontiac offered their 12 bolt with the 3.90's 1n the 60's
