Exclamation What are the biggest gears you could put on a M6 12bolt combo??

What are the biggest gears you could put on a M6 that is used for the :track,streets, and Highway racing?? WOuld 4.89 be good for a daily driver?

if rev limiter is higher go with 4.10. if you run the quarter it will be just enough to finish in 4th. i love mine.

its a 383 Lt1 with 217 AFR heads, rev limit is at 6600RPM

If you are going to street drive it I would suggest 4.10's.

For track use, it is fairly straight forward. What rpm do you cross at now? Let's assume that you want to cross at 6400 in 4th:

6400/current rpm * current gear ratio = desired ratio.

If you plan to run bigger tires, then you need to increase the ratio. If you are willing to shift into 5th, then you can go even higher. Just make sure you are fast on the 1-2 as it will come up quick if you are running 4.56 or higher gears.

If you highway race, you can do the same thing as above; just start with your normal top speed and current rpm and do the math so that you are at 6400 at that mph.

Go with 6.13 gears.
Hehehe ya know what's scary though... Our 6th gear tames that to like a 3.08 with a 4 speed/th350/th400! And those people think that a 3.08 is wonderful for cruising

what about 4:30's i have a 6 speed with a 150 shot and been thinking about going with 4:30. would that be ok for a street strip car???
