Default Shift kit with Fastchips tuning?

I just installed a PI3200 in my TA and they suggest running a Trans-Go shift kit with it. My problem is that I have had Ed Wright tune my computer and he firmed up the shifts. If I keep the tuning the way it is will I have problems with running the shift kit as well? Ed says that some people run both. I figure that if I leave the firmness down on the shift kit it work ok with the tuning. Anybody have any info on this?

Thanks.

I would go ahead and install the shift kit also - they work to increase the pressure through different means, and both have there benefits. You might also try emailing yank and getting his advice though, as I am a M6 guy.

NO

Do not install the transgo until you can send your PCM back to Ed and have the stock line pressure restored. There are guys who have blown transmissions by mixing the 2.

A properly installed transgo is a better solution, IMO so I would send the PCM back and then install the transgo.

I told Ed to NOT touch the line pressure when he programmed my PCM since I already had the TransGo installed. I'm not a fan of raising the line pressure electronically. Are you planning on a cam later on? If so, when you have him reprogram your PCM for that you can have him set the line pressure back to stock as well.

I already have a cam installed. I spoke to Ed and he wants $150.00 to pull out the shift firmness. That on top of $100.00 for the Trans GO is making me wish I had stuck with my SY3500.

Oh well I guess I will send my pcm back to Ed.

Thanks.

doh! I glanced too fast at your sig apparently. Take the weekend and think of anything else you could have EW do while he has your PCM. You could have your line pressure set to vary directly with your TPS. I did that on the recommendation of Patrick G. This way you won't get less than 100% line pressure at WOT due to inaccurate readings from the MAF. Just wait until you get to the track and hook the Vig 3200 up. One nice 60' time, and you'll be very happy with the setup!

You don't have to do the transgo now. You can always add it later. Chances are that if your shifts feel fine now, there will be no ET gain. Lke Trevor said, I prefer transgo over electronic line pressure adjustment, but it may not be worth spending the money if things are working correctly.
