Default Warped rotors on 98' T/A

Aight, I know you all have probably hashed this out enough, but I just registered. My 98 T/A shakes really bad when braking, I have been told that they had a problem with the rotors warping. One,is this true? is there a recall on them? If there is a problem, would getting 99-up rotors solve the problem or should I just go after-market? Also would turning them just solve the problem?. Thanks, Zach. By the way this site is awesome.

Zach, I wouldn't suggest getting 99 rotors as my rotors have warped several times after being turned. I'm not completely sure but it seems that the '00 and up rotors are a bit better. Can anyone back that up for me? Another route to go if you don't want to spend an arm and leg is the Autozone, Advanced Auto, etc. replacements. I've heard of several people having real good luck with them...they have a warranty too. I'm about to give them a try myself. You can pick them up for something like $35-$55. Hope this helps.

Oh yeah, no recall on the discs from GM <img src="gr_sad.gif" border="0">

Don't waste time on GM rotors. Either buy from AutoZone (some on this board have had good luck there) or the like, or buy from one of the aftermarket vendors. Personally, I have KVR drilled. Not too much more expensive and I'm very pleased.

I heard that warped rotors in the rear were a problem in the 99 Camaros (what I have). It's not bad, if you use them easily then your all set.

When my rotors die I am just going to upgrade the pads and get larger slotted rotors. They are fine until they die.
