Default Eibach Springs + Hal Struts - Good or bad combination?

Well I wanted to lower the car, and I know an Eibach Pro Kit being stiffer than stock is going to cause me to lose some weight transfer, so I'm compensating for the losses with some hal struts in the front (and shocks in the back soon, but not immediate).

Will I be better or worse off than I started weight transfer-wise with this combination? Do you think it will actually help my quarter mile ET? Obviously improved weight transfer means improved 60' time with better traction.

I can't speak for your setup, but from my experience lowering the car just makes lauches suck. I run Eibach pro and HALs at all four points. The car corners like a banshee, but off the line I am the burnout king.

Sportlines, KYB AGX at all corners and BMR rear setup and I'm cutting high 1.8s on F1s. It can be made to work.

Monster,

I have the same set as you are thinking about getting. HAL doesn't tell you that when using anything but their front springs with those shocks you have to cut the cups off the front shocks to get them to fit. Those shocks are great because of the ability to be adjusted for different conditions but I don't know about their springs. If you really want the shocks I would go with the HAL front springs and just use the stock ones in the back.

The thing most critical here is the ride height. Weight transfer is just a bonus of going with the Hals. I wanted to lower the car and figured I'd do the shocks/struts at the same time.

To my undertanding you only had to cut the top of the spring seats in the front - I've already purchased the pre-cut thunderracing spring seats so that it will sit right. Is there something I'm missing?

Since you already have the modified spring seats from TR, you're good to go. The verdict is out, more or less, on running lowering springs w/ the Hal struts. I came VERY close to lowering my car w/ the Hotchkis springs (~1" drop), but I'm an avid drag racer that did NOT want to sacrifice any 60' ability. I can tell you for sure that if you go with a beefy rear sway bar kit specifically for drag racing that it'll hook well w/ the lower springs. I've watched David Douberly's car (BeaSSt) run low 10's w/ the Hotchkis spring/Hal shock combo, and the car leaves straight as an arrow. However, I also know that he's running a rear sway bar for drag racing. I think it's either BMR's or Wolfe's bar. You can find out at www.thebeasst.com . Keep in mind that a rear sway bar setup that's specifically designed for drag racing will take a little finessing on the street. I remember Patrick G telling stories of lifting a rear tire when trying to corner in his '98 Z28 w/ the Wolfe rear sway bar! <img src="gr_eek2.gif" border="0">

How much 60' am I going to lose?

Going from stock springs/struts to eibach springs + hal struts, shouldn't the struts make up for the springs so I be right back where I started or a little bit better?
