It will tighten it up a lot. You will feel all the bumps in the road but it's a small price to pay for the added strength. I noticed a big change on the launch. I didn't pay much attention to it before but my car used to flex when launching but now it feels like it's instantly moving instead of flexing. (did that make any sense?) It's hard to explain, but you will NOT regret this. I wish I would have installed these the day I bought the car now. Let us know what you think after the install.

You won't regret it. I was like you, and made SFC's my last susupension mod (not by choice, fooken welding shops).
After the install, the car defiantly felt more solid. Corning was also improved. About the only bad side of the SFC (and I'm diggin here) is after the install my car now tracks every rut in the road, and my passenger side interior (the A-support) clicks with every bump.

SFC can make the car faster. Like some of you
said...it puts the power right to the road!
A lot of HP is lost during the 'flex' action
during a hard launch...the flex is completely
stopped, so the power is transmitted to the
ground. (Oh, yea, you will feel every bump in the
road...not it is not all that bad)

FWIW, I think you're doing the right thing.

When I first met my better half, she had a bone stock 3rd Gen ('91 GTA) with about 65k miles on it and T-tops. I have never seen so much body flex in any car I've driven. Just pulling into the driveway caused more creaks and groans than at the local nursing home Based on this experience, installing SFC's on my SS was one of my very first mods. Since the car was still new it was very tight, but even so I could immediately tell a difference. The car now felt much more solid. I don't see why you would ever regret adding SFC's (assuming, of course, they don't give you ground clearance problems or something like that) - IMO it's a crucial mod when upgrading the suspension on a unibody car such as ours.

Ok, Ok......

I just don't want to lose the daily drive comfort too much. The only way I can describe it is .... a friend had an 89 TA, and it was just, well, harsh. EVERYthing was felt and hard. Bridges IMO were awful to cross. Am I looking at something similar to that or is the suspension so different it won't be so harsh?

99ZEOD... I understand.. Just with the things I have now, I feel like the car is MORE of a one solid piece moving togther. And the cornering already is more level and 'together'.

Leeeet's DOIT !

I should not have clearance problems now or in the future because with the ground effects that big air deflector whacks things now unless I go at an angle...

Thanks for the help guys!

You won't regret it at all!!! Makes the car feel much tighter. You do feel every pebble on the road but it's not that bad. I have stock Goodyear F1's on my '00 Camaro SS with the fronts being very worn. When going into a turn, the car squirms for a second on the tires (this is a tire problem) then just zooms around the turn. Car still will lean towards the turn but is leaning on the suspension, not twisting on the frame. I've gone around normal 25 mph 90 degree turns at 40 mph and the car just goes around the turn. I did this with a friend in the car once and he said he was going to sue me because I hurt his back going around the turn so fast (caught off guard). Car does feel like it lauches better too at the track and on the street. Mine are Global West. If in Jersey, go to Mufflex in Trenton, they do very superb welding.

Installing SFC's on a F-body is mandatory if you
want to keep the car for a period of time. I've installed them on this car and my previous; a 91RS. SFC's will not make your car ride harsher, just tighter. There is a difference.

Like mentioned in the posts above you will notice an immediate difference. Just remember this is a uni-body car which has inherit flex, anytime you
stiffen up the structural integrity it's considered a good thing.

Or tell me why I would.

I have BMR weld in SFC's sitting here.

I have recently installed poly bushings, 32 mm sway bar, ES tranny mount. (which is still driving me crazy wtih vibration) Also has LCA's, Panhard, and STB.

I love the feel of the car with these additions.
You guys know how much stiffer these things have made it, I'm sure.

Now, I know I should have installed these SFC's first after reading all the posts, but just getting to it now.

I am concerned that I won't like how it feels after install. These are weld in so there is no going back, right?

I want her to handle the best she can! I want her to feel and act great when I play and great when I just drive.

How different is is going to feel? What exactly is this addition going to do? Tell me how your car felt after install. Is it going to lose it's comfortable, daily feeling all together?

Sorry if I am rambling about a simple install, but I keep being told this is permenant. Anyone around me have them installed and can give me a 'show me how it feels" ride?

Thanks!!

Makes the car fell more solid. You won't regret it. I am going with STIFF SFC's also.

Ok so will SFC's make a bigger differance in a t-top car as opposed to a hardtop? I have one of the few hardtop cars and wonder just how much it will help my ride. Last year I ran a SY3500 and drag radials, this year I have a ST4000. I plan on running ET Streets now that the 12 bolt is in. I have no SFC's yet, just wondering if it would make a differance in a hardtop car.

I imagine your bars do some of it. How about somehow tying it all together? You could install the SFC's and let me drive it to compensate for the added weight.

From what I understand, there is no difference in the roof line of a hard top vs. a T-top except that the hard top is completely covered. A friend of mine has a hard top and in the evening when the dew starts to collect on it you can see where the bar goes down the middle like a T-top car. Therefore I think SFC's would help on a hard top as well. Jeez, I made that difficult.

99ZEOD, When I had the headliner out of the Z installing the roll bar I looked at the roof structure. There are metal supports running over top of the doors making it a complete square i guess you could say, unlike the T effect with the T-Top cars.
Beth you wouldnt like driving my car, it only has 2 pedals and it shifts by itself

I say, get rid of the swing out bar, tie the SFC's into the bars, shut up and drive! (Or just go along for the ride.)

I didn't know that. Learn something new everyday I suppose. At any rate, I'm sure SFC's would help. They couldn't hurt.
