Default will this 9" work on my trans am? PICS inside

this is a ford 9 inch rear that my friend has. an older fella sold it to him and he put it in his 3rd gen camaro. says it works in ALL 82-02 3rd and 4th gen cars. i was thinking of buying the rear from him since hes gonna start playing with his cobalt. Now, i heard from some other members that i will need to swap axles so i can use my ABS. swapping my disc brakes to it shouldnt be bad. However there is no torque arm mount on the rear. the older fella said you dont need a torque arm on it since it has Adjustable lower control arms, as seen in the picture. they adjust the pinion angle themselves. ill put some pics here. and i need someone who really knows their stuff about racing to help me out. Will i be able to use this rear without the torque arm?? (since theres no place to mount it) I noticed that the rear has mounts on top of the axle tube for adj LCAs, to adj pinion angle, so will i be ok? Thanks in advance and sorry for the big pics. i just wanted everyone to be able to see them!!

Pic of rear, no Torque arm mounts

With new axles you should be able to transfer everything off your 10 bolt that you need to make it work. Other people have used similar seteps to eliminate the torque arm, some have had trouble, others have not.

more of a hassle than its worth.
you'd have to get the spring perchs, shock mounts and tq arm mount fabbed up by a chassis shop, then get new axles, etc.

So instead of the torque arm they welded on an upper mount to hold the housing from wraping up. Interesting, have you driven that car to feel how it handles?

I think those are pics of the "pete z" bars that eliminate the need for a torque arm.

You may be able to have the axles machined for the ABS rings.

I'll take it for $400.

You can buy torque arm mounts for for 9" housings BTW, so if you didn'want to run the pete Z bars thats another option. They are about $150. You could also buy the correct housing for your application, and reused the center section out of that one in the new housing as long as its setup the way you want it.

Pretty sure that the tq arm mount you can buy only fits 9'' housings made for 4th gens, with some provision cast into the housing to attach it to.

If you could just buy the tq arm mount for any 9'' everyone would do that.

Nope, actually there are 2 companies that sell torque arm mounts for any ford 9" housings that I know of...and possibly more.
