Need some help hey everybody,
I could use some help here. I did some searching but there are so many posts bout different rears and everything, i didn't really get a straight answers
you can see my mods below, most were done this winter so i haven't driven the car yet.
i know i need a 12-bolt, b/c i think a 9" would rob too much power
i don't really want to buy a new rear end, since they cost so much
is it possible to piece one together? I didn't know if there are 12 bolts in other cars/trucks that'll fit etc

The rear end that is used in the 3rd and 4th gen F bodys use a torque arm. None of the 12 bolts that have been used by GM had a torque arm, and it is practically impossible to retrofit one. Length of the 12 bolt would also have to be the same, or cut down, etc. Bob
A 9" will take about an extra 15-20hp over a 12 bolt. But you will never have to worry about breaking it. Also you can piece together a 9". I know somebody did it on here for a little over $1,000. I don't remember who it was. It will take some searching to find out.

I know the 12s and 9's are allot of cash for our cars, and it sucks... but It is just better to go with a new one made for our cars. Bottom line is IT FITS. It will bolt right in and all the LCA's, shock/spring mounts, TQ arm, panrod, swaybar mounts will all be right there, the yoke will be right, won't have to worry about fitting a driveshaft, and you won't have to fight the gear whine problems....unless your really good at setting them up.. Down the road I think it is going to haunt you if your order stuff for the rear and then you have to cut and hack and hammer the stuff to fit. Tons of reasons just so spend the cash and get a new one.
I hated to bite the bullet on a new rear also, but I feel tons better now that it is in and I don't have to worry about it. There is enough things in front of the car that I have deal with.

A Moser 12 bolt with the truetrak, your choice of gear, is a good way to go. It is $2,350 with the optional 33 spline axles, optional ABS or ABS/TCS and the optional Performance Cover. Shipping is paid by the customer when the rear arrives.
