Default SPEED INC'S TRANS

About a week ago I took my car into Speed Inc. To have there "Race Prepped 4L60E" put into my car. A couple of days later Tom Izzo called and said that I needed an extra part for my trans to make it fit.
I said, "How much"
He said, "No don't worry about it I will take care of it. I would just like another day with the car." I thought that was really cool of him to do. So I get the car back the next day. It rained that day and the day after, so I really could do much. Now it is dry . Let me tell you that Trans is ******* amazing. It shifts so fast you can't even tell. They are just as strong if not stronger as a flp level 4, and not to mention almost half the cost. If anyone has any doubts about this trans don't because this trans kick ***. If anything go wrong (which is very very unlikely) You know Tom @ Speed Inc. Will be their to help you out. I am going to the track this Sunday so I will keep you up dated on it.

The Speed Inc. units have yet to be proven on high HP applications over an extended period of time nor do they use the same components.

Also the Speed Inc. tranny is only around $400 less than the standard price for the Level IV, not half.

I'm not bashing the Speed Inc. tranny because it is probably good for many applications. But until it's proven it's no Level IV.

I have over 400 rwhp about 390 tq and that is through an unlocked converter on an a4. So I am making some power. Yes, I have not had it in long but as for right now it is amazing. Yes, I MIGHT have probs down the road. I am not worried though I if there is a prob Speed Inc will be there for me. That has been proven too. They were their for so many other people. Just ask around. Well I am still very happy with it. I am sure it will stand up to the test.

Here's a bit of advice on how to take care of a rebuilt 4L60E / high stall combo.

Avoid heat.

Never hotlap more than 3 times in a row at the track.

When I race I do runs in groups of two, sometimes three if I am testing something like say shift points. I NEVER do four runs in a row. Ever.

I have seen tranny temps in the 200's on Autotap after first run, and it goes up from there after more runs.

Joe, how would warranty work since Izzo doesn`t build the transmission and gets them out of state right?

Driving it on the street for a day doesn`t mean it`s stronger than FLP or even close...lol

Izzos has a warranty- 6K miles/6 months. thats pretty damned good considering the abuse they go though.

I`m confused Roy, you`re comparing headers to transmissions

FLP did not coat your headers.. LOCO did. your beef should be with them, but they will recoat them for free so what`s the problem?
Manufacturers will warranty their products but do not expect them to pay for install/removing their products. If they had to include that in their prices things would be 100% more expensive.

When you go aftermarket you take a certain risk.. if you can`t handle that keep it stock..

i know i am comparing two different things.

if a pump or something breaks in the tranny, i dont think izzo will make YOU take the tranny out, bring it to his shop, and send it to the place- understand? Coating is part of the headers, whether THEY coated them or not. very few companys make every single part in their aftermarket product so obviously THEY cant warrenty the specific part that failed. IF the pump or cluthes go out in the trans, theres no doubt in my mind that izzo will take care of you, including intalling and removing the trans.

in other words- izzo will completely do all the work

I will have this trans in my car next week. I beat the living hell out of my trannys (gas pedal is always on the floor, lol!) so we’ll see how it holds.

That trans will be going into a LS1 car at the end of this month that is making more power than any other LS1 using the trans currently. Izzo told us this would be the most power he’d seen run through it yet. The owner of that car races it constantly so I’m sure we’ll see some results real soon.

If I'm understanding this correctly, you're saying Izzo will take care of the removal/installation costs if the tranny breaks within 6months/6K miles. Am I correct?

If so, it is a no lose situation.

I think the only one that had any issues so far was the very first one in that ’01 white Z28. I do believe that the owner of the car posted on this board that the guy who builds the trannys in Kentucky actually came up here and fixed it himself at Izzo’s shop. Now that’s service!

Yep the company fixed it, but its a shame how he totalled the car on its way back from the 1st time at the track..

DenzSS, yes he will take care of everything...
