Default Any experience with National Drivetrain's Eliminator gears?

http://www.nationaldrivetrain.com

Just curious if they're decent. . . strong. . . etc.

Reason I ask is because they're cheaper than Motives, Richmonds, etc. . .

I don't wanna buy these things, and then have one of you post "ya know, I had those in my XXXXX car, and they broke on a 2.4 60ft on Pepboys radials. . .blah blah blah blah!"

Do NOT get them. I made the mistake of getting them. I install gears for local people. I have put all different brands in all different carriers. High ratios in 4X4's whatever. Anyway these are the only gears, and I mean the ONLY gears that I have installed that whine. The last set of gears I put in a 7.5 rear were Superior brand gears. They were and still are dead silent in operation. And they are behind a blown LT1.

So let me restate my experience, the gears you are referring to are Motive gears. Yes Motive gears. You'll see if you get them. You will also find that their customer service is crap if you have a problem. MOTIVE brand gears SUCK! And that's what the "eliminator" series gears are. So "Eliminator" gears SUCK! Now don't get me wrong, I can take a little noise. But these make a "special" sound. Very much like, how i believe a freight train would sound if it was trapped in my hatch and was blowing the horn non stop trying to get my attention!!!!!!! If you would like to know just what I mean, go to the nearest train yard. Climb up on an engine. You will need the engineer to be present. Then find the horn and place your ear directly at the exit of the horn itself. Signal the engineer that you are "ready" and have him "toot" the horn. You'll get the idea real quick.

Just incase you missed what I'm saying let me close by saying my experince with these exact gears has been bad. But I will say this, I have cut 1.9 60's on my stock F1's and they are still together. But let me mention again that they whine. And it's not the installer. I use a micrometer to measure pinion depth and an indicator that reads in .0005 increments to check backlash. I don't just throw gear sets together. When I called them about the gears whining their first reply was "it's the installation." Then I told them I did it and how. Then it was "send us the gears and we will send them back to Motive. Sometimes we do get a bad set." I was like "no that's okay." I'll eat the $150 for the gears and make sure I tell everyone of my experience. I don't need my car stuck on the lift for 2 weeks or more waiting on Motive to admit they let a bad set of gears get out. NDT told me they have had a few sets that come through that are just too "hard."
