Thumbs down Alot of noise coming from my Rear end...

Lately my rear end got noisier. I only hear it or notice it when Im driving at slow speeds, like at 25-30mph. Lets say im driving, at around 25, then I let the gas go and just cruise and the noise starts. It sounds like there is loose parts in the rear end.

What do you guys things ???

Should I start saving up ?

Yes it sounds like you are on your way to walking... When you are ready, I can have a Moser 12 bolt or 9 inch ready to ship in two days. Bob

Mine makes a lot of noise, just like you describe, but it is still holding. No sticky tires for me though...

Bob@EPP...can you get the Moser there and install it? I'll be moving to that area later this summer, and a 12-bolt is on the list.

A lot of them do that - the so-called "marbles in a box" sound - and they can go for a lot of miles being noisy like that. My old 2 series carrier made a lot of noise like that. It's a liability of the design of the stock Torsen unit.

Yep...been told that many times. The more I beat the **** out of it, the worse it seems to get, but so far, so good.

Sounds like the front pinion bearing is bad or the nut is coming loose.

Mine was making a noise similar to that, i thought the outer bearing was gone on the passenger side axle, took it out and it was fine. The inner end of the axle had some wear on it (around the edges) and i called and got a price for a new axle $355 from the stealership. I put it back together with the same axle and the noise completely stopped. I don't know what happened. I may have been low on fluid.

Should I go with a 9'' or 12 bolt ?? Or a Dana 60?

My car is my daily driver, Although that is going to change by around christmas time of this year, I will get a beater and put the SS in the garage for crusing nights and when I feel like driving a very good looking car

I have a "howling" noise from the right rear. The rar leaks some fluid from the pinion seal, not sure how much it is down...Seemed to change after a few launches in the last week. I am changing the fuid this weekend... Anything I should look for?
