Default Thick Gears, any GOOD news?

I've done some searching on thick gears in the 7.5 10 bolt, and all I hear are bad things. Most of the complaints are about noise. Like anyone that has tried them already, I would like to get away from my 2.73 gears without replacing the differential. However, I don't want to waste the money on thick gears if they're no good.

Anyone with positive experience care to chime in?

I had GM OEM 3.73 gears installed in my 10 bolt and they are dead quiet. I beat on them a with my M/T drag radials and they are still quiet, no clutch drops though. I get just a slight amount of whine in 6th gear on the highway if I listen for it real close with the radio off. Got my GM OEM's off of ebay for $100 used, but normally I think they are pretty expensive new.

I can get me a set of GM Motive gears 3.73 for 155, plus 88 for a master installation kit, and 190 for installation!

Thanks for the responses guys, but I'm looking for some feedback on the aftermarket thick gears that allow running 3.23 and numerically higher on a series 2 differential. The searching I've done is almost 100% negative when it comes to how noisey the gears are, but I'm wondering if there's someone out there using them for high mileage without the noise problems.

Thickness has nothing to do with whether they wil be noisey or not. They're cut on the same machines the regular gears are cut on.
