probably get flamed for this but.....
does anyone run a custom converter? they have a local shop that builds converters pretty cheap and i was looking into it. the problem i have w/this is they use the factory 12.5 inch rear half shell to retain t.c.c. usage but it is a 9.5 inch converter. WTF? what does that even look like? appreciate anyones thoughts opinions and comments. especially if anyone runs something like this or has and idea about a 9.5 in converter w/a 12.5 rear shell. i know i should just pony up for a vig or a yank but i want to explore all of my options
TIA

Besides the fact that Yank and PI use better than stock materials, I don't see how a factory 12.5 inch rear half shell is any advantage. I mean the factory TCC is designed for a converter that stalls much less than a Vig or a Yank and I can't imagine it lasting long with anything serious. They're trying to cut corners which is the first flag that they're <img border="0" alt="[bullshit]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_bs.gif" /> .

sounds a bit bizzare; not to mention that it retains the extra mass and size of the stock converter which is not an attribute you want.
call Yank and ask them if they have any trade-ins. Sometimes you can save $200 by buying a trade-in.

well i talked to a transmission guy i know and he said that he has seen the 12.5 with the 9.5 front casing before and it looks bizzarre(sp?) but it spins like a 9.5inch. even though it retains the 12.5inch mass. he also said to go with a vig, soooo thanks anyways guys
