Default 2800 Stall - Should I get 2.0 or 2.5 STR???

I'm definetly getting a 2800 stall for my 2002 for daily driving, and to avoid SES light problems.
I told the guy I didn't want a sloppy part throttle feel and he said to go with the 2.5 STR, it would feel tighter. He also said it will light them up easier and I shouldn't get the 2.5 unless I was use to a lot of torque.
Growing up with muscle cars and trucks, I'm very use to torque. Hell, I pray for rain just to hang the rear end out on the way home from work.
So do you think the 2.5 STR is good for the srteet or to much and I should do the 2.0?

Well i had a 3600 with a 3.0 and it didnt even feel like it was stalled(had a 1.9 and felt that stall). One thing I heard the more you up the Xing the more top end you lose. With a 2.5 xing you mostlikely wont even feel the stall at all.

Yeah, thats the impression I get is that the STR is higher so the power is being laid down and you don't go to the stall unless your on a roll.
Just a mad torque machine....
Screw it....2.5 - here I come!

i had the 2800 yank with 2.5 str and it felt liie stock... i yanked the verter out 2 weeks after and got a vig3600 so i could actaully notice a difference. Sure you're gonna notice the verter the first 2 days, but afterwards you will wish you had a 3000-3500

i wouldnt reccomend a 2800 yank cause its not really a worthwhile stall.. if going yank atleast get a 3000 with 3.0 STR!

its only 200 more rpms so get it everyoneeeeeeee goes to small on there first converter!!

btw i went from 13.10 to like 12.86 with the converter and nittos

Like I said in the original post, I'm trying to avoid the SES problems the 01-02's have with any stalls over 3000 rpms.
And from what I'vve read, the 60ft times of the 2800 are anywhere from 1.7-1.8's so I think I will notice a difference.....

I agree with HD, step up to 3000 stall if you are considering a Yank. The Yank 3000 will not have lock-up problem. If your 2800 is the Vig 2800, you'll be ok.

The two converters I'm considering are the Vig 2800 (used for 9 months for $420 shipped) and the Mid west 2800-3000 (new 2.5 STR) for $455 shipped. It's getting excellent reviews over on LS1.com. The guy said the Mid West TC actually stalls at around 3000 and has not set a code in any cars.
I think I'm going with the new TC over a used one.
I don't need a problem with a 2002 car....
