Default 4.10's in a A4 too much?

I'm debating between 3.73's and 4.10's for my 02 A4 SS. Right now I've got 3.23's stock and I've only driven the car 3000 miles in the past 2 years, so gas milage or whatever is not a issue. The car is mostly a show car, but I do like to have fun like most of us.... ........Any thoughts?

If gas mileage is not a concern then 4.10s will be fine. For a daily driver 3.73s would be more suitable.

4.10s will be faster if you trap under 120. They make highway driving a bit of a bear, but if you dont mind the extra rpms and noise, go for it. I did.

I thought they'd be a bit much when we got my wife's 2000 SS that came with 4.10s, but after running 13.5s at 107 with just 4.10s and an SLP lid/cold air kit, full weight nothing at all removed....actually had more wife junk in the car, on Toyo streets, I'd say they are pretty cool...Crossed the traps a tick over 6000...stinko 60's of 2.17..

Wait til we swap over the Bogarts and M/T radials from my 95...

Leave the stock gears in. An A4 car with a 4.10 and a 4000 converter is not that streetable. Everyone has different levels of streetability, but IMO that is not. My car has a 4000 stall and 3.73's. At 70 mph, the rpms are at 2500, not *that* bad, but honestly I wish I would have left the 3.23's in. My friend also has a 4000 TC and 3.73's and feels the same way. It's your car, but I would find someone local with a similar setup so you can actually get a ride.

I agee, 3.23's (or 3.42's) and a converter are best for a daily driver. I can't get traction as it is - lower gears would be even worse.

Well let's just say... I absoultely LOVE my 4.10s. Not a single regret. Love the fact that I can chirp em into 2nd and roast em from a dig or slow roll. Then again, the longest drive I make on an average day is 12 miles.

I did the same swap you did. Very fun to drive and had the stall for both gears.

Do the 4.10's. I have zero complaints about mine and I used to dd it. Was on the freeway everyday cruising at 3100ish rpms on stock size tires.
