Default Would changing my gears be a waste of time???

Ok, I know there is a sticky up top about this, but I read through the whole thing and I'm still unsure.
I've got a 2000 Trans Am A4 and I can't decide if a gear swap would be right for me.

I just installed a 3400 stall and race transmission. I love how hard it launches. Over the winter I am going to be installing the basic bolt-ons (lid, LS6 intake, ported throttle body, LT headers, full exhaust, Computer tune). I currently have 2.73 gears in the rear and I am wondering if it would be worh my time to change to 3.42 or 3.73 gears.

PLEASE HELP

Definitely makes it a lot more fun. Especially coming from 2.73's.

What do you mean "More Fun"? What I'm really looking for is 1/4 mile time. I'm really hoping to me in mid to low 12's with the mod's that it stated before, does that seem possible? Would changing the gears help me get closer to that?

I would say if youre coming from 2.73's like I did, go 3.73's.

If you compare a good run of each, you should net anywhere from a .2-.4 tenths gain.
2.73's are a burden every Fbody needs to go without.

Ive personally never seen anyone get more than .3-.4 tenths with just a gear swap, but throw in a shift kit and combine that with some decent rubber and its very common to see a couple tenths gain.

Which means, if you raced someone and it was dead even, you should now take him by 2-3 cars, and you will... if you can hook up off the line that is

Default Change em

I went from 2.73 to 3.73's in my 2001 camaro z28 a4 and i love them. I gained .3 tenths with the gears. Not to mention as stated above the fun factor of driving your car goes up substancially. I never regret the gear swap and they will go great with my longtubes once installed!

I went from 12.69 @ 109 with headers and a tune
then through on a cutout(as apposed to the off road y pipe and corsa) it was going through and a ls6 intake(never really felt a difference with both) and then put in 4.10s and wnet to 12.30@ 113
