Default Broke the 10bolt for the 4th time

well raced friday night at the track got my best time of 12.98 and today i was leaving a freidns then snap shes gone again .goin to need new bearings i belive not looked into it yet..but what are good option for a new stronger rear.i drive everyday rain snow sleet shine it dosent mater this is my only transportation for now..id like to update it with something stronger like maybe a 9inch or 12 bolt but what do you guys think will suite me better .future mods will be heads and cam ..also were is some good places to get a good rear at and how much did you guys spend on yours so i can get a idea on how much i need to take out of the bank to get me back on the road..also id like to have a direct replacement just bolt in and go thanks

My 7.5" lived fine down to 10.40. Are you sure yours is being built properly? 12.9 shouldn't be a problem.

here we go again.... it seems to be luck of the draw, ill find out soon enough im gonna put some 4:10's in also..

There's a big difference between an auto and a manual. Manuals with sticky tires eat 10 bolts. There is more than enough proof on here to show it's a bad combo.

Get a Ford 9 inch with a Trutrac and be done with it.

as far i as i know its being setup properly im having a asc certifeid mechanic set them up the past few times i dont knwo thaugh ..what all should be done to make sure its set up properly ..ill make sure to ask some info about how he sets them up ..thats what i thaught o 12.98 should been bad enought to break i was on street tires i know it wasnt hookign that good just leaing about 1500 i dont know thaugh i guess its just my like

Ask questions about backlash, pattern, pinion pre-load (drag), and carrier preload.

set up is key.............you can be ase certifeid in many different ways is he certified in drivetrain? i go 12.30 with 1.70 60ft with a motor that makes about 430hp and 27 x 11.50 hoosier quick time pro's. i launch at around 2600 and race every friday night about 4-6 passes a night and drive to and from the track

+1 backlash, pinion depth, and good bearing and locktite go a long ways.

invest on a cover if you dont have one.

well after further investigation today i found the problem i was just hoping bearings .well nope the actually housing is cracked i guess when the bearings went it jsut shreded the whole thing so i got to get a complete new rearend.but since i cat affort the 9 inch at the moment a friend has a 1994 rear end out of his formula he said he would sale me for 50 buck ..it should be the same as mine right jsut install my gear and axles and go right? and no i didnt break it at the track it broke the day after the track just cruising down the road at 40mph and felt like i got rearended lol ..but in bout another month i will enough to get me a good rearend that i want be afraid to dump on

I did mine a little cheaper than everyone else:

Moser housing and axles: $1000
Used 9" 3rd member, 3.50 gear, open diff: $50
New Trac-Lock, used 3.00 gears, crush collar, 2 incorrect yokes: $395
Conversion u-joint: $18
New 3.00 gears since the used ones were fragged, solid pinion spacer: $210
3" muffler clamps for sway bar: $8
Oil and paint: $25

Total: $1700 all inclusive and you could take $100 off for parts I bought twice.
