Default Rear End Spacer?

So I got my 3.90 in today with the install kit and talked to my mechanic about installation.... he said that you have to have a new spacer to install the gears right? Is this true, or not, and if so where do I get a new one?

If the car had 2.73s or 3.23s then yes you need a ring gear spacer. I know that Speed Inc sells them

Yep, since your car is a auto that had one of the stock gears listed above.

Ok so I don't need the spacer as it seems. Since the 3.23's have a 3 series carrier and I ordered a 3 series gear... no need for a spacer. At least thats what I was told by thunderracing when I tried to order one.

he is correct- they just make the ring gear width wider where it bolts to the carrier
( what the width of the spacer would be)
