Inconclusive data to say that. There are 3 possible diameters that the 10 bolt came with during that time.

If you wanna be picky, I was agreeing with the fact that it would not have been a 7.5'' ten bolt like the one we have. Although, I have owned five 70s F-Bodys. Three Camaros and Two Firebirds. They all had a 8.5'' ten bolt.

While I was aware that the 10 bolt has came in several diameters over the years, I have never saw anything other than the 8.5'' in an F-Body. But then again, I don't claim to have seen everything either. I will do a little research. Maybe I will learn something today.

Oh. I have no intention of being a smarty pants. I try to make my tone reflect that but words only is a handicap for me. All I was really stating is it might not have been that specific yet it WAS a 10 bolt.
I always put myself out there. That is how you learn. Who cares if people "yell" at you or call you stupid. You get the info and its just the internet. I don't doubt your info but I never take anything even myself as 100% correct.

Anyways, I am not out there trying to pin it on you.

8.2's were used in first gen's and according to GM in some second gens also. Production of the 8.2 was stopped in 71 and 8.5 started in 70, so who knows. I havent worked on many 70-1/2 or 71's, so Im no expert on that. I have worked in driveline for over 10 years now though, so I do know a little something.

ive been 1.53 on s bone stock 10 bolt with 3.73...ive seen local guys with stock gears and eaton hit 150 off the line in a 3700 pound car and go 1.42
stock gears are alot stronger, but id say ten bolts are weak and a waste of time and money, only thing ive heard is any good is to weld the axle tubes, thats the only money besides gears id ever waste on a ten bolt
