I have broken the stock differential, so i upgraded to motive 3:73's and a auburn diff..then the motives crapped,,and the auburn shitted out..luckily the auburn was under warranty so i got a set of RIchmond 3:73's, auburn pro series diff, TA Girdle Moseur axles, Arp Studs..broke the 373s on a nnitrous pass down hill, while rolliing shifting into 4th...so back in went the 3:42's...now if this blows up i am selling the diff, axles, ta girlde and going with either a Moser 12 bolt or a Strange SD 60..and no mine doesnt like the abuse either..M6 Formy

I've been lucky so far. I cut 1.5-1.6 60 ft. times with the 10 bolt and a set of 3.73 gears from a 4 cylinder S-10. No girdle and my car is a 6 speed. I run MT ET streets at the track. My brother broke 2 4.10's in his car with drag radials before going to a 9 inch.

Is that including labor? ( I don't have the know-how, at least not for that kind of job). I wonder if I could get that covered under my Carmax 100,000 mile warrany.

That's not so bad. Well, since I don't really do TOO much pounding on my car, I guess I'll be okay for a while.

I had the same thing, Auburn Pro Series with 3.73 Gears from an S-10. I blew them apart on a 25mph Dig, and with MT ET Streets on. The POSI is fine but kicked the **** out of the Gears.

As far as you guys talking about the 9", where did you get about $3K from? I can get one setup for about $1700, and drop it in myself.

I have 80,000 miles on mine making 350rwhp and 360rwtq with some drag passes on it. Never had done a high drop on it.

I personally wont spend the $2500-3000 on a 12 bolt or 9". I dont drive my car that hard all of the time and the overkill would be wasted money for me. I ahve not had any issues with mine. When and or if it ever goes out I am doing some simple mods...

Welding the axle tubes
Keeping the same ratio (3.42 M6 car) gears but having them cryo'd and or mikro'd if possible.
Upgrading the diff and cryoing it as well.
Upgraded axles
T/A diff cover
1350 U joints

Then just a simple rebuild. This will keep the project under $1000 or so and should handle anything I plan on doing with the car. My biggest thing is I dont mind taking it to the track, but I am under the thinking of dont drive it liek you stole it unless you can afford for it to be down. Mine is my daily driver so I cant not have a car and dont want to spend the money on a bigger rear.

Plus the 12 bolts and 9"'s both require more power to turn them versus the 10 bolt. The main thing about the 10 bolt is the carrier size which has been stated and the use of cast materials that are just sub par.

^ if you think doing all that b/s to a 10bolt is going to save it ur nuts.......its gonna break...exspeicaly if u go to the track and luanch it on some nice sit of tires....i forged mine..and it still broke i wasted abunch of time and money on something tha broke 3 times.... good luck.
