Default Gear recommendation?

I have a 98 SS with Vortech blower an full exhaust with custom tune. The car made 475 rwhp an 455rwtq. I was thinking either 410's or 430's what do you guys think? The car is driven less than 500 miles a month.

Still the stock rev limiter (6200 RPMs)? If so, I'd go with no more than a 3.73. 4.10s or 4.30s with a blower would make the first few gears damn near useless with a blower.

MeentSS02 that is a beautiful car man. The car still has the stock limiter but I can get it bumped up if need be, I don't want to go with any less than 4.10's. whats the deal on the 3.90's I've not heard alot about them.

Thanks...for reference, you are looking to put these in a 10-bolt, correct? 3.90s are now an option for the 10-bolt, so that is a possibility as well. Any particular reason you are looking at 4.10s? They are a good N/A gear for us stock internal guys as well as heads/cam guys, but the F/I guys usually steer clear of such a numerically high gear.

The car does still have the stock 10 bolt. The reason I was thinking 4.10's is because all me buddies have them an love them, but they are all N/A. So do you think 3.90's is ok or should I just stick with the 3.73's?

For you...I'd recommend the 3.73s. They'll be physically stronger than the 4.10 gear set, so they'll last longer back there. I think you'd be spinning your *** off with 4.10s, and wouldn't like them because of it. I can rip the **** out of my street tires, and I only have bolt-ons and 3.42s. I can't imagine having as much power as you do...you'd be able to spin 3rd gear by just getting on it.

Many people say you won't...depends on how sensitive your butt is. The only car I've driven with 3.73s was a car with heads/magic stick 3 cam, so I couldn't really do a direct comparison to my car.

Honestly, with your power level and the 10-bolt, I'd stick with the 3.42s if it was me. If you are intent on changing it, I wouldn't go over a 3.73. The only reason I went with 4.11s is because I got them installed in my Strange 12-bolt (although I still don't have the rear installed). I didn't want to go with 4.10s in my 10-bolt only because the gears themselves are physically weaker than the stock 3.42s, and I've had my rear end rebuilt 3 times already.
