For $30 more he can get you a 28 spline mini spool. I have herd that you have to have an open diff to install a mini spool? I have been thinking about doing this for a long time.

Most mini-spools will only fit in open diff cases, not posi's. You can get a open diff case from an S10.

Is this year specific or will any year S-10 carrier work?

It would have to be 28 spline, so 90-up. It would also have to be from the proper ratio case, so 3.23-up for most.

I'm pretty sure you can't put a mini spool in a torsen, as there's no crosspin. Get out the welder...haha

4 year old thread A mini-spool in a 10 bolt is for dirt track racing, not for street use.

^ Correct. I've tried doing this as well when my 10 bolt took a dump. Either find a stock replacement, or save up for stronger rear end. I went with the latter option.

You can do it, you just have to pick up a 3 series open carrier out of an s10 or blazer that is 28 splines
