Then again you F-body guys tend to have more traction on the streets. For me with a stall I can't even get traction with 3.15's!

Relo brackets, shocks, and pinion angle @ -1.5*. With 315 DR's, if you don't get traction with the above, something is bad wrong. There are folks who are running taller 4.56 gears with 315 BFG DR's and they get enough traction to pull the wheels out here on the streets. You have the have a good suspension setup.

Unfortunately for me they don't make DR's in big enough sizes to fit my wheels, that and the fact that most of the stuff that improves traction off the line isn't then same thing you would do for handling. I don't drag race so I will just have to put up with the traction issues!

i got 315 bfg drags and am still loving the 4.10's they are actually quieter than my 3.42's i should of taken it easy on them tho, i couldnt hold in for the 500 mile break in period.
but deff worth it, its amazing seein the speedo climp faster and the whole car jsut squat and go.

you just gotta be quick with the shifts and not be bouncin off ur rev limiter due to bald tires or anything.

I see you have 17" wheels, what does your 4th gear top out at? Im gonna be running a 150 shot making 500wheel and in the feature maybe 560+ with Cam, and im afraid im gonna have to shift to 5th in the 1/4. and maybe rob my top end too much aswell.

Even on that HP, I don't see you pulling 140mph trap speeds on h/c/150shot.

It all depends on your cam and wheel diameter, youre gonna be rev'ing up to 6500 or so and a taller tire makes a big difference as well, You will most likely have to have a taller tire to keep from shifting to 5th though

I cannot believe I just read this. Your kidding right?? I know several people on here with enough power to top out a set of 4.10 gears in about 15-20 seconds.

Wow, i dont know alot of cars that can hit over 245 mph that quickly, Assuming a 26" tire, 4.10's and 6500 rev limiter..........

Unless you meant top of 4th. Which is only 112 mph with 4.10s with stock tires and limiter. So in that case every car on here can top out under 15ish seconds

Yea, the first 4 & they go very quickly at that.

I didn't know 4.10 gears in 6th gear would go that high for mph. I was under the impression the higher gear you go the less top end you have. Which should mean you could top out all six gears & not be goin as fast as if you left the lower gears in. Or am I confused on how it works. I'm still new to learning about the rear info.

--Edit--
This is what a local guy in our f-body club told me:

"with my 7k rpm rev-limiter i can go about 165 at the top of 5th gear and about 130 at the top of 4th gear...who knows how long sixth would go, if i had the power it'd be WAY up there...LOL"

So I was off on the top speed deal, my bad. But the top speed for 4th gear isn't as low as 112. But thats also with the limiter @ 7k instead of 6.5k. His gears are 4.11 in a 12-bolt rear with heads/cam combo puttin out about 420ish.

The lower the gear (higher number numerically such as 4.10), the more acceleration you have, but the lower your top speed is. A stock 98 camaro would top out at 268 mph, if it had enough hp or drag didnt exist. Thats why the other guy was saying nobody on here had enough power to top it out, it takes a sick amount of power to go 268 mph. The bugatti has 1001hp and it will do 253mph and it has 7 gears with gears made for top speed, nothing close to 4.10s. The last 5 mph takes over a minute to reach.

You are correct about if you were topped out with 4.10s at 6000 rpms, that you would be going a higher speed with the original, higher gears, at the same 6000 rpms. A higher gear gives you higher mph at the same engine speed.

Heres an example,
4.10s at 6000 rpms in 4th gear you would be going 112mph (lower gear)
3.42s at 6000 rpms in 4th gear you would be going 134mph (higher gear)

In the T56 cars the cars top out in 5th gear, because they are drag limited the cars that can pull sixth gear higher will have a higher top speed.
