Default TruTrac problem:

I installed my 9in today, and it has an aluminum center section w/ TruTrac diff. Problem is, when I have the car on jack stands and I check to see if the posi is working, the result that I am getting are the axles are locked like it is a spool. When I turn the wheel to the drivers side wheel to the right the passenger side follows the same direction. When I turn it to the left... same thing, the passenger side goes left.
What concerns me next is that I have put this thing together without knowing if it a spool or the TruTrac I ordered. Anybody know why this thing is acting like this???
Here is a pick of the center section before i put it in the car. Please tell me if anyone can identify the part in the pic as a spool or the TurTrac. I am sorry for the angle but it was the only picture I took.

Looks like you have a spool.

Yeah... it is bolted in...
I had spent the last 10 Hrs on my garage floor building and getting this thing in. Went to turn the tire to do a test like the owners manual says and didn't get the results I was looking for. I need to call Moser and get this issue fixed on Monday. Problem is this car is my daily driver, and now I am going to be car pooling to work...

They should be able to ship you the correct center section while yours is in transit back to them.

Good Luck.

From what I hear, you'll like the True Trac.

Thanks for the help.

I am hoping for the least amount of down time possible.

Yeah, it is sweet looking, but unfortunatly it has the wrong internal component. It should have a $500 differential in it, but this looks to be a $250 spool is in there. So what I really have is an expensive spool at the moment.

Here is a question for the pro's. I am scared to even drive the car because if it is indeed a spool, I had ordered 31 spline axles to go with the TruTrac. Are spools not 35 spline? Is it possible that I may have put my 31 Spline axles in a 35 spline spool? Or is it like the peg hole game, round peg can't fit in the star shaped hole? Could not sleep last night thinking about all the variables, and EPP or MOSER don't open 'till tomorrow.

i dont think you would be able to fit 31 spline axles in a 35 spline spool, count the splines on the axle to see if its 31 or 35, chances are they sent you the axles to go with the spool.

styoung, that is what I thought. I would like to know for sure by counting the splines on the axles, but I don't want to take it apart untill I confirm the parts were indeed incorrect from Moser.

that IS NOT a spool. I just got the same one this week. look closely and you can see the gears inside of it. It doesnt look much like the 12 bolt tru trac, no, but it isnt a spool.

my buddy got the 35 spline axles at the same time, and trust me, there is NO way they would fit into my center section. theyre way bigger.

btw, nice choice of rear and gearing, strangely similar..

I sure hope your right.

I couldn't see the gears inside of it in the picture. I just notices there is a Tru Trac bag in the picture. Does that have a skematic to tell if it's correct?

i'm pretty sure that is NOT a spool. a spool only has ring gear bolts on the side of it. yours is a tru-track. FWIW, you can get a spool in any spine you want.... 31,33,35....

I looked at a picture of the 31 spline 9" Tru Trac on Summits site and it looks nothing like the one in his picture. If it's not a spool could it be something else?

ok... now I am sitting on the fence here. I will try it again. Putting the car on jackstands, (manual trans) in reverse and I will spin the wheel. If it spins the way a posi is intended, I will be shocked as hell. Be back in a moment...
