Default Rear Dif and Tranny Fluid

The owners manual for the limited-slip dif shows to use 75W-90 Synthetic and 4 ounces of Limited-Slip axle lubricant additive.
The supplemental manual shows for the Auburn to use mineral based (non-synthetic) 80W-90. And 2 ounces of limited slip additive.
I'm replacing the rear fluid for the first time. Prob going to go with Red Line fluid if synthetic is fine for the Auburn.
Is synthetic fine for the Auburn, how much do I need, what weight do I use, and how much limited slip additive do I need? And any suggestions on how to change it out are also welcome.

The owners manual for manual transmissions shows to use Dexron III Auto Trans Fluid. Also would like to go with Redline here. Same questions.. is synthetic okay, what weight to go with, how much do I need? Redline also has different manual and auto trans fluids, any comments on that? Any thoughts on changing it out welcome also.

All will be drained and filled from dry. I live in Texas if that matters. I already autocross and will continue and add road racing early next year.

Kind of hard to help since you don't say which carrier you have. Zexel/Torsen, or Auburn. Use what the manual says. It is telling you the type of fluid and amount of additive to use depending on what the car came with.

Okay.. I thought since I mentioned the Auburn it would be obvious.. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I have the Auburn <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I understand that is what the factory is telling me what to do...
The factory also must adjust for ppl that use the car to go the bank and grocery store only... I race mine.

My experience has been very good with using the Redline 75/90 w/ a 4 oz. bottle of limited slip additive in the rearend. I keep the tranny fluid OEM using Dextron III.
Hope this helps.

You need:

2 quarts of Redline 75w90 gear oil for your rear end...you will not need the 4oz of friction modifier as the Redline 75w90 already has it in it.

4 quarts of Redline D4 ATF trans. oil for your M6 transmission.

All of my cars have had this in them. Works good no bad noises. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I have an auburn 10 bolt with motive 4.10's. Would Royal Purple's synthetic be a good gear oil? Would I need the GM additive?
