built tranny break in?

built tranny break in? do u guys run a new race tranny for 500 miles then change the fluid and filter? what type of fluid should be used during the break in period

Re: built tranny break in? 1. Run it VERY easy for 400 miles.
2. Over the next 50 miles start getting into it progressively harder...1/3 to 1/2 throttle, at 450 start going to 1/2 to 3/4 throttle, and then around 500 start edging it into WOT.
Note: that is NOT 500 miles of free way driving... but 500 miles of city, stop and go driving.
This will compact the clutch material and make for a long lived tranny.
Fluid? I just use whatever is on sale and is a "brand name".
Change the fluid often. At least once every racing season.
