Default Question for those of you running the Cheeta shifter

I'm in the middle of converting from a M6 to a TH350. I got a Turbo Action Cheeta shifter from Summit. How did you guys mount it? How much trimming was done to the console? If anyone can send me some pictures I would greatly appreciate it.

TIA

I mounted mine in the same location as the stock shifter, and use 3 of the stock bolt locations (and just left one out). Your M6 should have the same mounting holes in the car already, but aren't being used.

I had to cut up the console pretty good to make it fit, but again with your existing M6 console it doesn't seem to take as much work.

I'll have mine apart this afternoon (to change the gate plate again), and I'll try to take a few pictures for you. Anything specific you want to see?

If you could snap a few pictures of different angles with the shifter bolted in and a shot of how you routed the cable that would be great.

Also, did you have to re-locate the air bag sensor?

How do you like it so far, any problems? I have a t-brake and reverse manual valve body.

Maybe you can answer another question for me. I don't know what to call it so I will try to describe it. I'm looking for something that will hold my engine at a certain rpm even though I have the throttle wide open. It sounds like it causes several cylinders to mis-fire. I want to wire it in with the t-brake and NOS. Does that make any sense and if it does can you make a recommendation?

Thanks again,
-Allen

Here are a couple of shots with the top half of the console removed. This is about as good as I can get without removing the entire console, unfortunately.

The way I have my cable routed is strange, but it works... It comes out the rear of the shifter, turns 180deg. and runs along side the body of the shifter, then out the hole for the stock shifter cable. Normally I wouldn't want to have so many bends in the cable, but the Cheetah comes with a very high quality Morse cable.

Like Will said, what you're asking for is a 2-step or "low side" rev limiter. The only option out there for an LS1 is the one made by Harlan, which works great!

Allen,

The part you're referring to is called a 2-step. Matt Harlan makes one. http://harlan-engineering.com/store/2step/2step.html . I think George has on on his car. It works just like yo described. You set the RPM that you want your car to leave the line at. Engage the t-brake/2-step and then put your foot on the floor. When the light turns green let go of the button and off you go.

Thanks for the pictures and info. This really helps out alot. I will be contacting Harland next week for the 2-step.

George, did you relocate the air bag sensor? The sensor in my car sits right where the rear mounting bracket bolts go.

I have a Yank PTE4000 converter. I am tinking about sending it back and having the stall raised to 4600. With my mods what do you guys think?
