AAM gears (OEM) require a VERY tight backlash and WILL make noise if not set up correctly.
Yesterday I installed a set of MOTIVE 4.10 gears for a guy on performancetrucks, and with the windows up, AC off, and radio off, there was NO noise.
It all depends on how gears are set up. I have had successful results from Yukon, Richmond, Genuine, and Motive gears.
Also dont rule out USGear and Percision Gear. Besides the OEM and AAM gear sets, I have had the best of luck with them. 'Performance' Motive gear sets are also a good cohice.
if yourgears are noisy somthing is off....usually loose clearances or
not enough bearing preload...unless a gear is straight cut it is not supposed to make noise....

I have to say Of all the gears we sell AAM comes back the least. Motive Gears have gotten alot better in the last few years.
AAM does make the gears for Gm and now Dodge.
