Who uses a Ford 9" in their 4th Gen F-body?
Does anybody here use a Ford 9" rear in their 4th
gen F-body? If so, how do you like it? I've been
toying with the idea of putting one in my 99'Z28.

one of my buddies told me that "it weighs more than the 12 bolt", "it'll rob power" and "it'll make ur car set up higher on stock suspension". true I know it'll weigh more but it cannot be that much more can it??? what about the other comments he made??? there is a guy in OK that'll custom build a 9" for my camaro for $800 before the posi and gears. can't beat that price. plus the the posi and gears will be cheaper since he gets a HUGE discount thru strange.

And here's a pic of the 9" painted basic black:
Moser
Yes it's heavier.
No, it didn't rob power significantly (in fact, I GAINED rwhp, but I attribute that to the 12,000 miles I put on the car between my first and second dyno runs).
Yes, the car sits higher, but not much worse than our "4x4-style" stock ride height. Lowering springs will take care of that, cheap.
My only complaint is that it whines, but that's why they invented roll-down windows and radios. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I doubt it. That is stuff you could get from the companies that sell those particular brackets and mounts. Anybody with experience in welding can mount those on with ease. I'm gonna' have one of the circle trackers that I know do that welding for me. Still, though, you'd come out way ahead.

that sell 9" rears. Alot of places make 9" rears
for a hell of alot less money.

Danny Miller's Rear Gears-

Quick Performance
9" housing w/Moser axles,bearings,studs,retainers
any width for $550. www.quickperformance.com
I started looking at other companies besides the usual Moser/Currie solution, when I saw what they were asking for their stuff. They're rippin' people off big time. Some of my circle track friends turned me on to these places above. Most of the price that Currie/Moser charge is padded profit and insurance to cover, if anything goes wrong with their product. Not to mention, they probably have steep overhead. I tried to open a speed shop at one time, and tried to become a dealer for Currie and Moser, and neither one of them were all that pleasant to deal with. I'm glad I didn't do business with em'.
