Shifter Question Ok, I'll start out by saying that I know the 4L60E is not meant to be manually shifted. With that being said, I have a question about aftermarket shifters.
Is it possible to use an aftermarket ratchet style shifter made for a 700r4 in my 2000 hawk? I know that I would have to modify my console, but would it work(mechanically speaking)? The 700R4 is a 4 speed tranny so the shifter would have the necessary settings. If you connected all the wiring, ie. neutral safety swith and reverse lights, would this work?
Let me know what you guys think.

yep. I got a b&m hammer shifter in no problem.
A hint- try to get a 5-6 speed console or at least the top portion-looks better when finished and gives a little more room.

Re: Shifter Question I have a Hammer as well, but used the auto console. I decided the opening in the manual console was too far rearward. megathumpzilla I'd be interested to see pictures of your install. You can see my install here

I can take some after pictures next week hopefully. It was part of an ls1into97rs swap. Finally got the electrics figured out, only to discover I made a bad choice when guessing my timing marks
