Question moser 9" u-joint doesnt fit

i just bought a moser 9". It calls for a new u-joint to be converted from the stock with the Napa part number 240-0447. I bought this u-joint and it does not fit at all. The journals diameter are too large and the width from one end to the other is too wide. I did find another ujoint that fits the diameter needs but the width is still too wide. There are notches on the center section, I guess to hold the driveshaft in place, and the width is too large to fit in between those. The width in between those notches are 2 31/32". Any ideas?

I've been going crazy trying to find the correct sized ujoint.

Thumbs up

Found a U-Joint that fit the center section. I took all the measurements needed and went to an auto store and went through about 10 of them before I found the one I needed. Problem solved. Now I need to find something to fit this hex fill plug so I can finally drive my car again! None of my allen keys work

Any chance on posting what kind of yoke you're using and the part number for the u-joint that fits? Was it the 1350 billet on the rear?

I run the 1350 on mine with no problems. I just bought a couple more, I'll look up the # when I get home.

just bougt a 1350 pst driveshaft. i have a 9'' also . my rear end guy told me they don't make a 1350 yoke in the 9'' that is long enough. he said that the driveshaft would be one inch short because they only make one 1350 size- 4inches... Damn,,,does it make any since to convert a 1350 driveshaft to the stock 1310 or 1330- whatever it is. i have heard both... if any of the rearend sponsors could shed some light on this subject it would be much appreciated.. i have done many searches but still yield no positve answers.

We use the same length PST driveshaft for both the Moser 12 bolt and the Moser 9 inch rears. Moser 12 bolts and nine inch rears are designed to be able to reuse the stock driveshaft should someone want to, just be swapping out the u joint to a conversion joint. Bob

Apparently the pinion yoke on the center section is not a 1350 which makes no sense to me. I measured the distance in between those tabs where the joint will go into and it comes out to just under 3".

I've noticed the same thing. I ordered u-joint girdles for a 9" and they didn't fit. They were to big. But the PST driveshaft bolted up fine. So no real problem.
It would be nice to know what u-joint and yolk it is.

I got my stuff from Exotic Performance Plus.
Thanks Bob!

I bought the U-joint girdles for a 1350 yoke (not the 9") and it works fine on my 9" and PST driveshaft. My driveshaft is 1" longer than stock also.

Figured it out, the pinoin yoke was misboxes from my supplier and we will be sending him the correct yoke at no charge.

Sorry Josh, if you don't feel comfortable changing the yoke you can ship it back to us and we will take care of it. I also left you a message on your answering machine this morning.
