Default KTRE or Currie

Trying to decide on a rear. Both the KTRE (from MW) and the Currie are 12 bolts, with 30 spline axles and eaton posi. I know for sure the Currie uses the 9" style bearing retainer. Both are about the same price. Also which gear should i go with on a M6 Allbore motor?

If you have alot of HP and have a 6-speed, you may want to consider a 9in.

I have a KTRE 12 bolt and so far-

Disentegrated Ring and Pinion

Got a whole new replacement rearend that was so loud I'm suprised all the glass didn't shatter out of the car.

I finally decided to replace the ring and pinion. 2 days later the bearing boss on the side of the differential broke off.

Not to mention, it leaked like a **** so I had to clean it out and seal it from the inside.

Other than that, it's been great <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

Stay away from the KTRE rearend, heard nothing but problems, a buddy of mine worked for DTS hear in MI and said to stay away from the things, stick with a moser he said, there nice rears, i haven't been able to find him to ask about these 8.8 rears that dave from Georgia is making, but they sound like nice rears, i'll probably order one this spring.

i got in on a group purchase for the KTRE 12-bolt when they first came out a couple years ago. there were about 10-12 of us in this gp. kenny was real helpful up until he got our cc numbers. then we never heard from him ever again. even after countless messages and certified letters to him. i think only 3 or 4 of us actually got a 12-bolt, but the quality was not good at all. used gears, not setup correctly, unfinished welds, etc... i waw one of the lucky few that got my $$$ back from my cc company. the other guys in the gp were out ~$2k. so in other words, no i do not recommend getting anything from ktre!

i have a moser 9-inch right now and have been throwing everything i can at it for 2 years now. no problems so far.

I would look into Moser or Strange. I have heard that DTS makes a real quality piece as well. Harlan runs that on his TT car.

Are you running 33 splines?

Are you running a posi unit, and if so which one?

How was the install?

Thanks,

Mike

I got it from Tbyrne on sale.Comes with posi,33 splines and TA cover.Sent Strange a new ste of backing plates,so when the rear showed up all I had to do was paint it (POR15)and install.
The gears have a minor whine at light cruise.Nothing I'm worried about.
