Default New guy needs help!

Since you guys have always given good advice, I figured I would ask a question of my own. When I got my car it needed a new clutch and new rearend. I got all that taken care of and now I can't seem to keep a throw out bearing in it!!!!!! I've gone through 4 in 2,500 miles and no one knows what's going on. I finally made it past the break-in period and my new one is going out AGAIN!!!! The only thing I can figure is my backlashing is to much. Could this be the cause and how much backlash is to much. I can turn my driveshaft about half an inch maybe alittle more. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Problem with throw out for clutch? I would look at the pressure plate, hydraulics,& if it is a Adjustable master?

Yep...Every time the pressure plate and flywheel where fine. The master cylinder is adjustable. The clutch is a Spec Stage II. How can I check the hydraulics? It's driving really bad today.

Sorry about the name change. It was just to damn long!

Is the master adjusted properly? does it have enough free-play in pedal? Usually something is constantly causing bearing to ride on p. plate & they wear out. What exactly goes wrong? noisy bearing? do they lock up?

Noisy bearing!!! The pedal engages and disengages about half way down. Pedal pressure always feels the same (although squeeky). The only physical symptom that might be causing this is: while coasting to a redlight with the clutch to the floor, but you still got the stick in gear, you can feel some kind of bouncing thudding thing happening. It feels like the play in my driveshaft bouncing and turning the clutch assembly. Naturally if I have the clutch in and stick in neutral the noises and feeling goes away! What are your thoughts.

Dude, you rock. Thanks for your help. Hopefully you can track this down.

Sounds like the Adjustable Master is adjusted wrong, keeping pressure on the pressure plate which in fact will burn out pilot bearings.Try adjusting the Master so there is 1-2 inches of free play in the peddle and it engages the clutch 1/4 of the way off the floor.

It's set halfway on the throw. By free play do you mean that with the clutch pedal all the way in the clutch should not be turning at all. Forgive me if this is an ignorant question.

If this is the problem then my clutch is probably getting burnt up too, huh?

Free-play is the play in the clutch pedal that when depressing pedal it is not appling pressure to the slave. In other words not pushing throw out bearing. This free-play ensures the bearing fully releases & somewhat sets where the clutch engages. It's basicly slack that the clutch hydralic system must have, So when you go to fix it make sure this is adjusted properly.

Thanks man! I've got a local guy looking at it today after work. I told him my sob story and the info that I've received from you guys. I'm pretty sure he can get this taken care of. At this point I'm pretty pissed that I really haven't been able to "get on" my car. AND I'VE HAD IT OVER A YEAR NOW!!!!

I'll let you now what happens.
