Default Cheap Alternative

Now I'm sure this has been asked 9384509483509348 times, and I tried a search, but go figure it is not working... Is there an alternative to spending like $2000 on a 12 bolt?

Yes. Spend $300+ on many 10 bolts.

Or go slow.

Spending 1500 on a used one....options with reliability are limited in the rear end dept.. no junk yard salvage peice or souped up 7.5 is worth a damn.. The drivetrain is just an expensive area of the car.. theres no way around it... It strikes me funny that people will spend limitless amounts of money on engine/suspension but when it comes time to do the right thing on drivetrain they cheap out..

I just look around for good pricing. Saving money allows me to spend it on other areas of the car :-). If thats the price that needs to be paid then so be it, but if not, whats wrong with saving a few hamiltons? Wheres a good place to look for used ones? I checked ebay last week with some not-too-satisfying results.

If there was a cheap alternative, do you think 12 bolts and 9 inches would fly off the shelves like they do?

if you have an auto just keep either 3.42 or 3.23 in it and it will live...seen many autos cutting 1.4 60' consisitantly on 10 bolt...im one of them

A stud kit and girdle will help some but it you break it then you are still out $100 + $$$ for a new rear.
